Firestone Diamonds (FDI)

queen1 - 15 Oct 2004 16:16

This is a very exciting company with bags of potential IMHO. The tie-up with De Beers and the amount of their Mopipi site as of yet unexplored means that, if they're lucky, this company could really be going places. De Beers lend some credibility to their work and although the sp has been impressive of late I believe there could be a lot more to come. I would be interested in the views of others on this one.

MikeHardman - 29 Oct 2004 13:41 - 2 of 30

Queen1 - I took 100% profits (half my holding) at 98.5p some days back, and have been hoping for a slide to rebuy on, but it hasn't happened yet. As time passes, I'm getting more jittery about being able to top up ahead of next news. Several things have been going right for FDI the last several months, as the share price shows. The question is, how much of that rise equates to confirmatory news yet to appear? Every time I think about that, I feel a little happier about all my current holding having cost me nothing, and less in a rush to add. Still, if the share price continues to hold up (as it did before the last surge to the 100p area), that has to bode well for a further surge if the next news is good. Watching, hoping to pick up on any good news soon enough to buy pronto, depending on initial market reaction.

Thanks for those thoughts Mike and well done on the profits. I am only just in myself having discovered these only recently so I'm willing the SP up!

Andy - 30 Oct 2004 01:17 - 4 of 30

queen1,

Once Bonte Koe startup is confirmed, I would expect a higher price in the short term.

I am considering a top up Monday.

queen1 - 30 Oct 2004 18:44 - 5 of 30

Excellent Andy. It's always a worry buying after such a strong run as the "top" could have been reached but my view is there's more to come (otherwise I wouldn't have dipped my toe!) Good luck for Monday!

queen1 - 01 Nov 2004 19:22 - 6 of 30

Good tick back up today - Did you manage to get in Andy before the rise?

MikeHardman - 05 Nov 2004 19:10 - 7 of 30

I added to FDI on Monday, at 97.75p, and was pleased I managed to pick 'em up at the same price I sold 'em for (if you include dealing costs). At least that's how I feel at the mo':)

So: hanging in there just sub-100p, despite some sells;
the longer it holds up, the greater the break when it comes,
so the theory goes.
'Twood be nice...

If the OBVolume chart has anything to do with it (just slid along to rising support again), the price should move very soon now.

Did I give you my email Andy?
If not: mike-hardman-at-ntlworld-dot-com
Drop me a line anytime (partly so I can do likewise).

Andy - 08 Nov 2004 20:14 - 8 of 30

Queen1,

Yes I have topped up my holding, hoping to able to top up again before the awaited news arrives.

Mike,

Thanks, address noted!

aldwickk - 09 Nov 2004 13:05 - 9 of 30

Why the fall in the price today?

MikeHardman - 09 Nov 2004 13:55 - 10 of 30

...not much reason in particular, I think; just some more selling.
...apart from my having added the other day :(
...I'm not paying it much attention, personally

Andy - 09 Nov 2004 13:56 - 11 of 30

aldwick,

Good question, I have no idea, second 3p fall in two days, maybe Bonte Koe startup not going too well?

Edit

Actually, looking at the recent trades, there appears to be consistent private investor selling, nothing too large, but certainly fairly consistent selling.

Maybe some T traders bailing as news not yet arrived?

MikeHardman - 10 Nov 2004 11:41 - 12 of 30

Added a few sub 88p

queen1 - 10 Nov 2004 23:59 - 13 of 30

Mike, you're a braver man than me. Am getting quite jittery about the falls now. In your post of the 9th you seemed pretty chilled about the initial drop and now you're topping up. Why the confidence if you don't mind me asking?

MikeHardman - 11 Nov 2004 10:36 - 14 of 30

queen1 - my post of the 9th - chilled? - no, just laid back about it.
After today's good news of 7 new licences in good areas, with initial mark-up pushed back down, I think the MMs are still taking the piss a little. One could argue this fall is merely 'selling of the fact', but I think its the wrong fact. Upside even better now (de Beers footing the pre-BFS bill on the extra Mopipi area as well, eg.), more news still in the pipeline.
Of course, I may be wrong, but I'm happy to hold, may add, but would be good if it stabilised a bit again first.

queen1 - 11 Nov 2004 22:08 - 15 of 30

Thanks - will be watching and waiting with you!

Andy - 12 Nov 2004 00:15 - 16 of 30

Mike,

I agree, some potentially teriffic news today!

FDI have virtually surrounded the largest diamond mine in the world, Jwaneng, with exploration projects!

All the licences are in the proximity of the richest two diamond mines in the world, Jwaneng and Orapa, so surely they have an excellent chance of hitting a kimberlite or two sooner or later?

I found today's news reassuring after the recent fall, and FDI is looking better and better for a longer term hold IMHO. I like the link with De Beers, it adds credibility IMHO.

queen1 - 12 Nov 2004 19:55 - 17 of 30

Absolutely Andy but another small tick down today. Does the market not think FDI credible in the long run, given the potential that you've so ably described?

Andy - 14 Nov 2004 22:51 - 18 of 30

queen1,

Who's to say if there's not a little tree shaking going on here?

I honestly don't know why the price is down, but don't expect it to be for long, results and initial Bonte Koe news due soon.

Looking at the recent trades, there were a lot of small private investor sells, volume wasn't great, so this will hopefully turn out to be a short term trend, rather than bad news.

I think value will out here in the longer term, FDI is for investing rather than trading IMHO.

queen1 - 15 Nov 2004 20:05 - 19 of 30

That's good to hear as I'm in for at least the medium haul. However, still get this sinking feeling that I bought in too late - damn! Hoping to be wrong!!

MikeHardman - 16 Nov 2004 16:11 - 20 of 30

Sold all but my profits from last week's buy.
That was a useful little excursion. Hopefully it means nothing, but I'm happy enough to be back down to my earlier shareholding for a while.

Andy - 16 Nov 2004 19:03 - 21 of 30

Mike,

Nice piece of trading!

queen1,

I hope you're wrong too!

Personally, I feel there's superb petential here, but as always with exploration stocks, we are awaiting news, which in FDI's case, may well be forthcoming in the not too distant future!

Minestart at Bonte Koe must surely have happened now? What we need to know is the grades and price per carat achieved, in order to assess their value to FDI's bottom line.
