Amerisur Reources : Sth. American Oil/Gas explorer (AMER)

Sharesure - 30 Jun 2007 18:48

Amerisur Resources is exploring for oil and gas in South America, currently in Colombia and later it plans to exploit its licences in Paraguay. It has a new Board of Directors and following a recent Placing at 6p (250m shares) sufficient cash to see through its current drilling plans and carry out some further corporate asset improvement opportunities.

Valuation of Amerisur Resources : 'Rule of Thumb' based on c.800m shares and using 10% DCF on oil at $70/barrel is 0.75p on the sp for every 1m barrels (CHP's share) that is proved in the ground.

Amerisur (formerly Chaco Resources) now has two exploration blocks in Colombia which it is currently evaluating and preparing to drill, one of these in the last quarter of 2007. It has also applied for further blocks in Colombia which are also believed to offer near term production. It also has three substantial areas in Paraguay and is awaiting news on a fourth. The next six months (May-November 2008) should see a steady news flow as it establishes the companys transformation from being an exploration company to becoming a significant oil production company. Set out below are some of the milestones which should produce announcements and have a positive effect on the share price. Any potential reserves are quoted in recoverable oil assets.

Platinillo, Colombia :

100% interest in a field currently assessed at holding 38.1m barrels of light sweet crude oil. Previously this a well flowed at 533 b/d before it was capped.Modern extraction methods may achieve up to double this output/well. Drilling completed for assessment and details of reserve figures and resumption of production daily figures awaited at Dec.2009. (Some guessestimates suggest the field might contain as much as 70m-100m barrels.)

b>

Tigra/Fenix block

100%% Further 3D seismic is completed; previous drilling has resulted in 30,000 barrels of oil from this block. Other blocks nearby in the Magdalena basin have also produced well. Drilled 11/2009; optimistic RNS (17 leads to follow)but reserve figures awaited

RNS :Expect further news on this block imminently and maybe a JV or other arrangement to speed up the timescale to production

Additional blocks to be announced

New local management team, in particular the CEO, is reputed to have some excellent contacts which will bring some high quality blocks to Amerisur in the coming months.

Curupayty Block, Paraguay :

1.39m hectares in north, close to Bolivia. Two wells previously drilled and both showed oil.

RNS : Expect JV with larger producer.

San Pedro Block, Paraguay :

1m hectares in south-east. Previous drilling showed oil.

RNS : Expect JV with larger producer.

Parana Basin, Paraguay :

Canindeyu block covering 1,789,000 hectares. Bordering Brazil. Oil field on Brazilian side already drilled. Chaco also expect to find oil and, at a deeper level, considerable quantities of gas. Chaco has obtained valuable historic seismic for re-evaluation.

RNS : Presidential Decree received 2/11/06.. Petrobras has announced its intention to increase substantially its effort to exploit Paraguay's hydrocarbons and has announced a farm-in on CDS's adjacent block. Possibility that they or another major will do likewise with Amerisur

Corporate Activity : The new Chairman is believed to have been brought on board to prove some or all of the existing Colombian assets and get these oil producing, arrange a JV on the Paraguayan assets before negotiating a sale of the company as consolidation of explorers in the region continues. An exit sp north of 1.00 over the next 12 months might be a reasonable target provided the drilling programme lives up to expectations, the price of oil remains at/above current levels and an approach is made for the company.

Thanks na sdaq

I have no need to sell, but bought at recent top, and nursing a 16% loss so far. Just wanted to keep a tab on what's going on, and whether riding the loss is worth it.

Any view to a target or stop on this?

Much appreciated

na sdaq - 28 Feb 2011 14:01 - 2802 of 3289

tomps

i wont be selling before they have completed this years drilling programme which if successful will see the sp at multiples of todays price providing oil stays around $70-80pb

yuff - 28 Feb 2011 15:47 - 2803 of 3289

tomps2-I agree with na.

Whatever you do hold on to these shares. many people have 10 bagged them even at this price.

Far far more to come.

You just have to have patience with this one.

bigwavedave - 03 Mar 2011 11:03 - 2804 of 3289

Can we read anything into today's options RNS? A positive signal, surely.
I didn't read much into the last one in November but I remember Sharesure being bullish about it.

PS: Daniel Stewart reiterated its target of 32p last week (before the upgrade announcement).

bigwavedave - 04 Mar 2011 12:32 - 2805 of 3289

OK...up 10 per cent now so I guess I have the answer.

bigwavedave - 11 Mar 2011 10:28 - 2806 of 3289

...and back down to 21.5p. Oh well, bang goes that theory.

Sharesure - 11 Mar 2011 18:55 - 2807 of 3289

bwd, it's all on low volume, so what does it matter? Exercising the option implies that there is no known price sensitive material to be published for 6 weeks, doesn't it? If so then we are already making in roads into that timescale.
Before the end of the month we are due some figures and maybe they will state a start date for the drilling. On the other hand maybe we cannot count on that with this lot; on past form they are more likely to assume that having published their business plan for the coming year that will suffice and then they can just tell as and when they get a decent drilling result.

blackdown - 12 Mar 2011 11:15 - 2808 of 3289

I suspect that options can be exercised at any time.

bigwavedave - 14 Mar 2011 10:08 - 2809 of 3289

ss: fair point re low volume but down is down and it's always harder to recover lost ground. But I guess it works to the advantage of those with deeper pockets than mine, and long term it will make little/no difference. AMER is telling only half the story (if that) regarding future plans for Plat. We know from experience that their definition of price sensitive info does not necessarily co-incide with our own!
Maybe they will tell us more in May.

Sharesure - 14 Mar 2011 19:07 - 2810 of 3289

Blackdown, You are likely right on that as the strike price has already been set. The timing might be a positive pointer since I believe there are immediate tax implications. So you would want to exercise the options before a rise in sp occurs; unless someone else knows the way they work better than I do.

bwd: I was expecting more before May; they could have news on drilling start dates, extra flow rates and also an implimentation plan for Fenix. It was only 15 momnths ago that that prospect was meant to be so loaded and high pressure that the drilling was bungled? If that was the case then you'd reckon that they would want to get started again on solving how to get the oil out.

At least the sp ended the day higher when I was expecting a bit of a stock market reaction to Japan but that seems to have been shrugged off.

bigwavedave - 15 Mar 2011 10:08 - 2811 of 3289

ss - thanks. Yes, should get drill news etc before May but I would like to see what plans they have beyond the 2011 phase. I guess that can wait for the AGM.
Re Japan: I thought the same yesterday but looks like everyone is getting thrashed this morning so I'm quite happy for any AMER updates to wait a little longer!

Sharesure - 18 Mar 2011 14:49 - 2812 of 3289

Up 3p; anyone heard anything new?

blackdown - 18 Mar 2011 15:41 - 2813 of 3289

Probably, but not necessarily the PIs.

yuff - 18 Mar 2011 16:38 - 2814 of 3289

Possible results for Dec year end??

na sdaq - 22 Mar 2011 06:49 - 2815 of 3289

Maybe not!
Mm games but they bare definitely making trading difficult either wayband 1/4p spread not very indicative of actual prices!!!!

bhunt1910 - 24 Mar 2011 12:29 - 2816 of 3289

A letter in Shares Mag today from Lauchlan Taylor asking shares author what he saw SP being at year end. Tom Sieber Claimed immunity under FSA regs but noted that last months reserves upgrade was well received and that RBC stil have a target price of 34p

tudwick - 24 Mar 2011 17:14 - 2817 of 3289

.........at least that would be heading in the right direction

bigwavedave - 25 Mar 2011 11:17 - 2818 of 3289

...and up from their original target of 29p.

Lifting costs of $9.94 bbl very low, well done JW, yet cost of sales comes in at 52% of revenue, perhaps I have missed some-thing but I would of expected cost of sales to be a lower percentage of revenue?
