So the times believes it's a terrifically sounding £7 a share offer, but for who?

niceonecyril - 29 Feb 2012 09:48 - 2922 of 5505

This from a poster who gave out info just prior to AB being announced, make of it what you will.

ingerspiet - 29 Feb'12 - 02:17 - 172172 of 172176

All im saying is forget the sp now it is going up up up long term, i happen to know one of the sons of one of the directors in gkp....... he told his own flesh and blood @400p put all you can in!! So stop worrying about day traders and let the rns's come out

HARRYCAT - 29 Feb 2012 09:54 - 2923 of 5505

Cyril, do you actually believe that? I know you want to believe it, but that could have been posted by anyone for any number of reasons!

niceonecyril - 29 Feb 2012 10:10 - 2924 of 5505

Harry 1stly the Times article is consistent with the Independents (of a bid that is),so i believe is their will be an offer somewhere down the line. And yes your right to wary of such posts, but his only previous posts back some 2 years ago.

Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd.

("Gulf Keystone" or the "Company")

Operational Update - Bijeel-1 Exploration Well

Well Results Yield Drilling Delays but also Resource Improvements at Shaikan

Gulf Keystone today reports an update on the Bijeel-1 exploration well operated by MOL subsidiary, Kalegran Limited.

The Bijeel-1 exploration well has encountered more than 400 meters of potential hydrocarbon bearing interval between 3646m and TD at 4383m. Kalegran evaluated and tested the top 30 meters of the zone at rates up to 3200 bopd, as reported on March 9, 2010, however mechanical problems were encountered when testing and evaluating the remaining 370 meters. This has necessitated a sidetrack and re-drill of the lower portion of the well to fully evaluate and test the remaining intervals, which is expected to take up to eight weeks to complete.

Consequently, drilling of the Shaikan-2 appraisal/exploration well, which is to use the Weatherford 842 rig currently on location at the Bijeel-1 well, will be delayed. The Shaikan-2 well is now expected to spud during the third quarter of 2010.

The Bijeel-1 exploration well has provided water pressure data which, when taken with data from other wells in the area, has favourable implications for the Shaikan structure. The data would appear to support the concept of a regional aquifer which underlies the Shaikan structure and that the hydrocarbon-water contacts in each reservoir are substantially deeper than the lowest known hydrocarbon depths, as determined from log data.

Harry i'd be interested to learn what it is you don't believe, apart from any hype? The info is their, not spec concerning the Shiakan field and AB is up for sale +SA +BB.

HARRYCAT - 29 Feb 2012 11:06 - 2926 of 5505

I don't dispute your figures, but this stock has been hype driven for quite a few years, so I am now very wary of target sp's being quoted by all and sundry. Share prices driven by private investors who trawl the bb's for positive spin are very high risk, as they are self fulfilling (i.e they go down as fast as they go up). If you think they are a good investment, then that is fine, but basing investment strategy on a post saying "I'm sh*gging the CEO's daughter and she said......etc" is ludicrous, imo.

niceonecyril - 29 Feb 2012 12:36 - 2927 of 5505

Harry fairenough, you make some good points. Stock driven up by hype is as you say
likely to retrace as quickly,in fact my norm rule of thumb is at least 25% drop before considering investment and sometimes 50%.
The i know a director is just sharing info,so one makes your mind up.Why i holding and if the right price topping up,is that all the indicaters are saying look what me've got"interested? Perella welberg's involvement is a thumbs up sign for those of us believing in a T/Over or ps art sale,so i'm hanging on in their.Only tome will tell, but best wishes with your investments.

rom Gawain on iii.

Hi all,
I've been at a conference for a few days and have been fortunate enough to privately speak with some 'top brass' at Total. They are absolutely confirmed as being involved in Kurdistan and have been for some time, and they are actively acquiring assets - but I have been told that we are unlikely to see ANY kind of public announcement to the effect because it's just "not Total's style" to do this. However, I was also told that Total are keen to pick up blocks first rather than go straight in for takeovers of current players with proven assets.

I've also heard from Petroceltic that the IOC interest in Kurdistan is "at fever pitch" and that many interested parties are active, but just not willing to make obvious public moves first...

The picture I've gained from many people this week is far clearer & positive than many on the message board make out. Kurdistan is highly prized by all and has magnificent onshore assets, almost incomprable globally. But, not all IOCs 'play ball' in the same way, or utilise the same tactics or strategies. There have been and will continue to be many heavyweight political games played out, in clandestine ways, that even the BOD at GKP will likely know little of. Nothing new there then!

What is a 100% concrete certainty to me, as someone fortunate enough to work in the industry and spend proper time with these people, is that key assets in Kurdistan are the MOST desired onshore assets in the world - bar none - and that we must all learn to relax and hold on to/continue to acquire shares in this exceptional company called GKP.

Because it really will not be long before something siesmic happens and we see a rush of bids on the table. When one blinks, the others will stampede...

Just keep holding, and smile. This is one heck of a share. Nothing else like it in the world!!

GLA, and always research carefully before investing, usual caveats, etc.

niceonecyril - 29 Feb 2012 13:43 - 2929 of 5505

Gawain's follow-up about our conversation of KRG likely to be spilling the beans:

"Absolutely - Total even said they expected the KRG to release news into the public domain which is why they felt they didn't need to bother going public 'officially'

The likelihood is that Chevron are already present too although I have had real trouble getting even a giveaway facial expression from even my closest contacts there...!! These guys are very used to holding big cards close to their chests. Poker on this scale demands REAL tenacity and skill!"

cynic - 29 Feb 2012 15:16 - 2930 of 5505

there's an awful lot of crap coming out on this thread - my dad knows x who is a good friend of y who has the ear and access to inner thigh of the krg preesident's pa etc - but nevertheless i do think this stock is likely to be a cracker, even if the timing is totally (sorry!) unknown

halifax - 29 Feb 2012 16:24 - 2931 of 5505

The truth will out when they produce their accounts, how much oil have they actually produced?

niceonecyril - 29 Feb 2012 17:50 - 2932 of 5505

This sort of males sense.

Out of interest I have received a reply to an e-mail I sent to GKP.
It says
'blah blah blah...In the past year, we have been issuing at least one operational update every month or so, which places us ahead of most of our fellow operators in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and we will continue to do so.'

halifax - 29 Feb 2012 18:10 - 2934 of 5505

noc how much oil have they actually produced and sold?

cynic - 29 Feb 2012 20:24 - 2935 of 5505

you old cynic hali!! ..... you imply none, but in fact, i think it's quite a lot - whatever that may mean ..... but more to the point is the proven and still to be proved quantum of this allegedly massive shaikan field

kimoldfield - 29 Feb 2012 21:06 - 2936 of 5505

I'm shaikan just thinking about it!

cynic - 29 Feb 2012 22:02 - 2937 of 5505

not the REAL shaikan stevens are you?
or perhaps johnny kidd and the pirates shaikan all over?

kimoldfield - 29 Feb 2012 22:12 - 2938 of 5505

No, but I've got a green door! :0)

kimoldfield - 29 Feb 2012 22:13 - 2939 of 5505

Not much green about oil though!!

halifax - 01 Mar 2012 12:20 - 2940 of 5505

cynic their last accounts don't show any sales, why do you say they have sold "quite a lot", reminds us of HAWK?
