New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

greek - i am often a total muppet and happily own up as same ..... i do not gloat when others lose money, but most assuredly i will thrown buckets of iced water on those who proclaim company X is a hidden gem when the facts and history blindingly indicate otherwise ..... this stock should leave me speechless, but clearly does not

Hi Skinny,

From 7th Sept, 'The sale will allow the Group to focus on its strategy to develop high margin, application led products'.

Nothing moving as yet apart from the share price.

Looking at todays trades, it appears the 'penny (or should that be 0.08p) has finally dropped'.
If this share was in a limbo dance contest it would win hands down!

Hi Greek,

Thanks for reminding about these!

Trading Update

greekman - 13 Dec 2012 08:58 - 327 of 644

A Xmas fable.

Promises, promises and even more promises, from Biome management remind me of how I was conned as a child.

From a very early age, I used to nag (no pun intended) my parents at Xmas for a pony.
One Xmas morning my parens told me that a suprise was waiting for me in the back garden.
When I looked, all I found was a pile of horse manure.
When I asked my Dad what a pile of poo was doing in the garden, he replied that 'The pony must have run off'.
At the age of 4 to 5, I had my doubts and everything my Dad told me after that, I did not believe.
I did though learn a valuable lesson, 'Promises are easily made, but often all you get left with, is a pile of poo.

"Yeh! C'mon BIOM! Jingle, jingle all the way to the bank." "Hah! Pull the other one, it's got bells on it!."

Sorry, that was my loose change talking!

hangon - 14 Dec 2012 01:22 - 335 of 644

Greekman, that was a cruel tale (no pun intended), and somewhat surprising that they believed a child would believe it, rather than see it for what it was....a stunt..

Sadly there are too many companies (or Managements) that think they can continue to be well-paid whilst dolling out horse-do-do.

If shareholders that turned up to the AGM actually had the power to vote on the directors pay, then you'd see much sharper management...lest we voted the something below the income the Government thinks is appropriate for Pensioners (currently £7k.pa). Many of them a overpaid by huge multiples and whilst the companies might fall-apart I suspect there are plently of middle managers that could do better for a much smaller slice of shareholder funds....

This has been a disasterous investment . . . anyone seen their trays in Tesco?

Huh!

Trading statement due on Wednesday. Can't wait. I have a feeling they may have sold something. It could be the factory of course!
