Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

i now hold none of either but confess to being far more tempted to buy back a few RKH than DES

Its like a bunch of school kids.

Buy shares and hold them, as I do with RKH and have done since 38p.

All this day to day, hour to hour nonsense......... pure pathetic irrational school kids some people.

Investing - its a longer timescale than an hour, a week or a month.

cynic - 27 Oct 2010 12:42 - 3730 of 6294

i don't know whether MRSI is permanently pissed or if he has a bag of potatoes on his shoulder or what .... certainly he comes across as being virtually certfiable ...... at least clubby had an element of wit and entertainment value

Pros - don't expect everyone to subscribe to your view ..... imo, your philosophy of investing can easily and often does lead to a complete dissipation and worse of any (paper) profits

DES today was a classic bear squeeze. Someone with a large short got a sniff of oil being found and that was enough to panic them into closing their shorts.

Thats IMO.

Obviously the oil may not be commercial or whatever, but at least it appears now that DES have got something of significance during the sidetrack.

I hope for DES holders that its a good find !! It benefits RKH as well if that is the case.

BID speculation ..... some reasons for today's rise of Falkland's Island shares ..........

LONDON, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Shares in Desire Petroleum more than doubled on Wednesday following internet bulletin board speculation of a bid approach for the Falkland Islands-focused explorer and an oil find, traders said.
An approach at two pounds per share was being talked about, one unnamed trader told Reuters.

Desire, whose shares later pared earlier gains to trade up 50 percent at 99 pence at 1012 GMT, could not be reached for comment.
Desire said earlier in October it would drill a sidetrack well on its Rachel prospect in the North Falklands basin after the original well failed to find oil. It said on Oct. 15 the sidetrack would take 20 days to drill.

"I would expect a statement from the company very soon because the share price has just rocketed and that indicates that there is some leakage somewhere as far as the news goes, and given the direction it's gone, it would indicate it's positive," said Westhouse Securities analyst David Hart

re - Are you German ?

I do not have to answer that, but I can see you are not very clever..... I said " I am not Anglo saxon" ( germans are part of that )
