A rollover doesn't explain the drop

lizard - 05 May 2005 16:22 - 3902 of 7811

they are playing mind games with us- trying to spook us ahead of results-

ptholden - 05 May 2005 16:24 - 3903 of 7811

I believe the results are due soon? Perhaps the two 4m buys is someone stake building before the results, which I assume will be good. Probably not enough stock to go around and the MMs tree shaking to flush out a few sellers and stop losses to fill the whole order. May be rubbish, but I can't think why else the SP would drop?

I can not tell anyone not to worry about it, but here is what I think.

Ask yourself this.............

Do you believe what this Company says it's got and is doing, what it says it is?

If yes, don't then worry.

If no, then time to leave.

Me, well I bin here long enough now to stay.

I may be the fool but we have been here before recently.

I have seen this type of activity before results with other Companies, no reason to suspect that this is anything bit the same.

The only problem I can see in the immediate future is that Harry Wilson has run off with the money.

Other than that, nothing.

Of course, I could be wrong, on the other hand the buys look to be what they are reported as at that price.

Over to you, over and out.

Over, over.

SWW, Prop,

I reckon the 2 x 4 million trades were a rollover too.

I'm hanging in there, even if the price of oil falls, it isn't going down too much IMO, and we are well within a year of Mauritanian production now.

If they drop it much more, I will probably top up, as I believe SEY will be significantly higher than this level in a year's time.

Cheers for that Goal. Seems that under 16p brings in some buyers. Some recent articles on the GOM from Rigzone this week.

"Exploration in the Gulf of Mexico is going farther and deeper in its quest for more oil and natural gas, and the efforts are paying off, according to a new report by the Minerals Management Service (MMS). By the end of 2004, gas production from the deepwater Gulf of Mexico (GOM) grew to 3.9 Bcf/d, while oil output reached 922,000 bbl/d."

http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?a_id=22285

"The Minerals Management Service reports that there were 3 additional deepwater (greater than 1,000 feet) oil and gas discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico in 2004, bringing to 15 the total number that had been discovered last year. Twelve were drilled in water depths greater than 5,000 feet. The discoveries demonstrate that active exploration in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico continues to help America meet her energy needs."

Thanks to Jimmyboy63 on TMF for flagging this artcile up by T Boone Pickens, well worth a read! A snippet:

"Let me tell you some facts the way I see it," he began. "Global oil (production) is 84 million barrels (a day). I don't believe you can get it any more than 84 million barrels. I don't care what (Saudi Crown Prince) Abdullah, (Russian Premier Vladimir) Putin or anybody else says about oil reserves or production. I think they are on decline in the biggest oil fields in the world today and I know what's it like once you turn the corner and start declining, it's a tread mill that you just can't keep up with."

This appeared in Business Weekly yesterday:

"AIM listed Sterling Energy, the oil & gas exploration and production company based in Harpenden, has sold its Philippines gas assets to Forum Energy Plc in return for an equity interest of 23 per cent in Forum

While the deal is subject to shareholder approval, more than 80 have already undertaken to vote in favour at the EGM on May 18. It is intended that Forum Energy will seek admission to AIM later in 2005. Following the disposal, Sterling Energy will be focused on its core areas, the Gulf of Mexico and Africa"

Strange why they are reporting old news.

seawallwalker - 07 May 2005 17:13 - 3913 of 7811

But is is at least reported..........

Andy - 08 May 2005 13:57 - 3914 of 7811

stockdog - 08 May 2005 19:41 - 3916 of 7811

Sterling recommended as one of five stocks for 2005 to hold against the bear market by MoneyWeek this week.

Andy - 08 May 2005 20:30 - 3917 of 7811

stockdog,

Thanks, what were the other four please?

gavdfc - 08 May 2005 20:49 - 3918 of 7811

Andy,

Thanks for putting the chart up. I do like the way production has doubled from Q203 to Q204. Also of note is the sharp rise from Q104 to Q204. :-)

Stockdog,

Cheers for the heads up on the MoneyWeek article, although I would argue holding into 06 for Chinguetti to come on line.

seawallwalker - 09 May 2005 07:08 - 3919 of 7811

Looks like these are not coming today.

Some say the 11th over on the advfn.

gavdfc - 09 May 2005 07:30 - 3920 of 7811

Strange, as I was told the 9th by the company.
