stockdog - 27 Jun 2005 16:33 - 4422 of 7811

Interesting that on an almost entirely red day, albeit on low volume, the SP has held steady.

Pond Life - 27 Jun 2005 16:40 - 4423 of 7811

Was that 2 million a rollover?

gavdfc - 27 Jun 2005 16:53 - 4424 of 7811

Doesn't look like a rollover to me.

seawallwalker - 28 Jun 2005 18:11 - 4425 of 7811

I believe the AGM is tomorrow. (Wednesday).

stockdog - 28 Jun 2005 18:19 - 4426 of 7811

Let's hope good forward-looking comment from HW sends the SP into new territory.

stockdog - 28 Jun 2005 19:27 - 4427 of 7811

Could be another field of operations for SEY or EEN!

GENEVA (AFX) - Kazakhstan's energy minister Vladimir Shkolnik said he hoped to export 130 mln tonnes of crude oil mainly to Europe within a decade as production is tripled every year.

Speaking on the sidelines of a regular United Nations meeting on Caspian Sea energy supplies, Shkolnik said the country currently had about 8 mln tonnes on tap but reiterated that it was aiming to expand that to 150 mln.

'In 10 years we are aiming to deliver to Europe, maybe not only to Europe, 130 mln tonnes of crude oil per year,' he told journalists.

Kazakhstan is regarded in the West as a potential alternative to traditional producers in the Middle East.

The Kazakh government is also aiming to put some of the blocks of offshore oil reserves it holds in its part of the Caspian up for tender open to foreign companies next year, the energy minister indicated.

'Part of the blocks will be developed together with our national oil and gas company. Part of the blocks will be put on open tender. This procedure I hope will start next year,' Shkolnik said.

Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Looking forward to the year end now.

Successful Well Operations in Gulf of Mexico

Sterling Energy Plc, the London AIM listed (SEY) independent international oil &
gas exploration and production company, today announced the successful outcome
from the operations of two offshore wells in the Gulf of Mexico. A work-over of
a third well has commenced.

Eugene Island 268 - Sterling has successfully entered and recompleted the A-1
well at Eugene Island 268. The well was recompleted in the Lower Pleistocene EO
and EK sands with a sliding collar production assembly. The well tested gross
gas flows of 3.9 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) from the deeper EO Sand. The
rig is in the process of moving off location following which the well will be
hooked up to the sales line. The upper recompletion in the shallower EK Sand
will be opened for production upon depletion of the EO Sand.

Sterling has a 60% working interest and 45% net revenue interest in the A-1
well.

Mustang Island 749 - Sterling has successfully drilled and completed the MU 749
GU No. 2 well adjacent to existing Sterling production at Mustang Island. The
well encountered 30 feet of net pay sand approximately 30 feet high structurally
to the other productive wells which have been drilled in this Cib Haz Sand
reservoir. Although Sterling encountered operational problems and delays in
drilling the No. 2 well, the well has now been completed and shut in following
positive pressure tests on the reservoir. Fabrication of the production
facilities has now commenced following which the No. 2 well will be connected to
Sterling's Mustang Island 747 Platform for production. The rig has now moved off
location to Matagorda Island.

After completing a farmout during drilling, Sterling owns a 75% working interest
and 56.4% net revenue interest in the No. 2 well.

Matagorda Island 520 - work-over operations have now commenced on the No. 16
well in the El Gordo field where Sterling has a 57.3% working interest and 45.8%
net revenue interest.

Sterling Finance Director, Graeme Thomson said;

'We are delighted with the results from these two wells which represent a
significant step towards our target of doubling production from the Gulf of
Mexico by the year end. With forward gas prices averaging over $7.50 /mmbtu for
the next year we are looking forward to strong cash flow from these assets.'

Pond Life - 29 Jun 2005 09:25 - 4433 of 7811

Clearly the early bird paid the high price. Just been quoted 17.88 - 18.2 on-line with Barclays. No shortage of stock.
Looking good from here on in. Wait till Ching starts to flow - then we'll see some real action.

seawallwalker - 29 Jun 2005 09:37 - 4434 of 7811

Good Morning People.

Nice result nice bit of action so far.

I would expect a consolidation from here on in until the next bit of news.

It seems that Sterling now are getting the news items delievry right, having not informed on the GOM at all prior to this summer.

It's all looking good, hopefully there will be some feedback from the AGM.

Glad you were up prop, I hope it is worth it today.

stockdog - 29 Jun 2005 10:52 - 4435 of 7811

Achingly small response on the SP to this good news, but from here on the 50dma should turn up and form a golden cross as it moves through the upward moving 200dma - by the end of July, I would hope. Should bring in a lot more buyers then on TA.

Short-term can we conquer the 18.75p double top from Mar/Apr?

proptrade - 29 Jun 2005 11:17 - 4436 of 7811

29 JUNE 2005

STERLING ENERGY PLC
('Sterling' or the 'Company')

2005 annual general meeting

a TRANSFORMATIONAL year

At today's Annual General Meeting, Mr Harry Wilson, Chief Executive of Sterling,
made the following statement:

'2004 was a successful and eventful year for Sterling and 2005 has begun in the
same fashion.

A strong performance in 2004 on a broad range of financial and operational
fronts has transformed the company and its prospects. Notable achievements
during the year were a 144% increase in operating cashflow to 8.1 million, a
doubling of production to 10.2 million cubic feet gas per day ('mmcfge/d') and a
450% increase in net 2P reserves to 21.6 million barrels oil equivalent ('mmboe
'). The successful 97 million fund raising and acquisition of an equivalent
c.8% economic interest in the Chinguetti development, offshore Mauritania,
presages a step change for Sterling when the field comes on production in Q1
2006. This deal also positions Sterling as an innovative participant within one
of the world's most prospective hydrocarbon regions and cements a strong
relationship with the Mauritanian Government.

In recent months we have brought more focus to our African operations through
the disposal of non-core assets such as those in the Philippines and the farmout
of assets such as Dome Flore in the AGC to accelerate development and reduce
risk.

We are participating in an active drilling programme in Africa, much of it on a
carried basis and our US programme aims to double production in the Gulf of
Mexico by the year end. Earlier today we announced the successful recompletion
of a well in our Eugene Island 268 license and the completion of a well in our
Mustang Island license, both in the Gulf of Mexico. The first of these, on
Eugene Island, will shortly be on production and is expected to lift our Gulf of
Mexico production by over 15%.

The substantial boost in our cash flow from our share of the expected 75,000
boepd of production from the Chinguetti development in 2006 and the continued
strong commodity prices, will allow the Company to access many new opportunities
for growth. I do not expect any let up in the pace of our activities over the
next 12 months.'

All resolutions proposed at the AGM were duly passed.
