Tesco is one of the worlds leading international retailers. Since the company first the trading name of Tesco, in the mid 1920s, the group has expanded into different formats, different markets and different sectors. The UKs leading retailer Tesco was floated on the stock exchange in 1947 and in 1995 took over rival Sainsburys position as the UK number one. The principal activity of the group is food retailing, with over 2,000 stores worldwide. Tesco has a long term strategy for growth, based on four key parts: growth in the Core UK business, to expand by growing internationally, to be as strong in non-food as in food and to follow customers into new retailing services. The company launched a home shopping service in 2000, allowing customers to order their shopping online. Tesco is now expanding its convenience stores and overseas into areas such as Taiwan, Malaysia, Poland, the US and Ireland.

Lets hope they do get back on track. With such hard trading conditions currently on the high street, Competitors are setting up major price wars as well. Once you start to lose market share it is very dificult to regain it. Lets see if Tesco have the plans in place to stop this. This is the news competitors were waiting for, they will be after them now. Not going to be a recovery over night or for the sp.

Pinkfloyd1 (great name btw) - it depends on your own 'comfort' zone. If you are happy to keep holding and your reasoning is sound - then do so. If however, you feel there are better opportunities elsewhere - then sell.

I am going to sell my large holding in tesco .
and boycott the shops along with some other people .
we are fade up of them employing migrants and not locals
as an investor i do not like this as migrants only spend there spare cash
in the pound shops and yes i have done my looking go on a saturday and 6 out of 10 will not speak english . no wonder the company is going bad they are shooting them selves in the foot we need to employ people who spend there wages in this country not send there money out of the UK

Hold, imo. No point in taking a loss now (unless you want a CGT loss this tax year). Will come good if you wait long enough. Divi still secure and this drop is only due to a small part of TSCO underperforming. Solid company and well run.
