BLINX and you've missed it, the next google multi bagger!!! (BLNX)

Still Waiting - 25 Jul 2008 23:22

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=BLNX&S

With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

Thought Tabasco would have posted something by now.. The low looks like 85p, not far off.. At 112 however this is still trading on a PE of 36... Whatever news comes out is going to need to be earnings defensive otherwise south it'll go.

goldfinger - 30 Jan 2014 13:07 - 4902 of 6187

Yep but not 50% plus CP on no news.

I smell a rat here in the market.

cynic - 30 Jan 2014 13:07 - 4903 of 6187

have now lightened my main holding by 1/3 at ~113
bit of a nasty loss, but if the story has legs, then i'm well out, and if it's a load of bollocks, then sp won't recover 65p in one hit either, so i now have some margin to play with

Shortie - 30 Jan 2014 13:10 - 4904 of 6187

Couldn't short 115 GF, CityIndex said only long positions.. That tells me everything...

cynic - 30 Jan 2014 13:14 - 4905 of 6187

saved you some money then as now 119 offer :-)

goldfinger - 30 Jan 2014 13:15 - 4906 of 6187

Nobody will trust this lot anymore, I certainly wouldnt.

I removed it from my watch list within 30 mins of market opening. I always do with bummer shares, that way you dont fight natural instinct on trying to get even, you just move on and forget.

I never blame the market, I blame myself and so it should be. Live and learn.

Having said that I find extreme situations like this very interesting.

Just what are the company going to come up with????

skinny - 30 Jan 2014 13:17 - 4907 of 6187

Similar to you cynic - I took +9 and lost my nerve.

a more balance view from ==== Sobeit iii

The nerd who posted that item on the "dark side of Blinkx" has not got a clue. If he is the reason for this drop, then he should be sued.

His thesis, paid for by a third party no less, deals with about 10% of Blinkx at most and totally fails to understand the Blinkx business.

His thesis is that Blinkx is running the Zango software through numerous channels and ruses and yet Blinkx only bought a small part of the Zango IP when the liquidator closed Zango down. Now, if that part of Zango was illegal then the liquidator could not have sold it to Blinkx. And if Zango was stamped with being "illegal" why would Blinkx run the product?

First of all, Zango was a very clever product. It exploited a sector of the internet marketplace before the powers that be put a blocker on it. But that did not mean its technology, used in the proper way, was illegal. And, after all its stated "abuses" it was only fined $3m dollars. If it had been really bad it would have been fined far more than that.

Zango's problem was the fact that it was a "one-trick" pony. If what it was doing was illegal then it was dead, hence its demise.

Now, this nerd has concentrated on Zango and Blinkx and has totally missed the core of Blinkx' business. And if he is so smart, and Blinkx is doing something underhand, how is it that smarter men than he have not sussed it in the past?

Furthermore, his comments on tv.blinkx.com are stupid. Tv.blinkx.com was an indexing product that located TV episodes on other sites and allowed Blinkx users to access them. If the index items have been removed by the third party then how could Blinkx find them?

I note his search item transferred his to a third party site. If he could not find the item there, then he should blame the third party and not Blinkx. That is not to say that Blinkx, if it wishes to continue to support tv.blinkx.com, should not make sure the indexes are up to date. It is noted that when now doing his search that there are no episodes listed.

Finally, his crazy comparisons of Blinkx with other sites, namely Yume,Tremor,Rocket Fuel,Criteo shows he has not got a clue. They are all advertising sites linking users to videos and generating revenue which in the Blinkx world relates only to the Burst Media and Prime elements of Blinkx.

He has totally failed to understand AdHoc or AdVantage where Blinkx software sits between 900 partners and their end-users generating revenue for Blinkx through shared advertising revenue. In all those cases Blinkx allows the partner to do the work by integrating the Blinkx API's into their software. That does not require Blinkx staff; that is the partner's job.

Furthermore, he also fails to mention that Blinkx generates revenue by running the video software for companies such as AOL and Lycos and we are still not sure what role they play with Microsoft.

He also fails to realise that the Blinkx video content software is "intelligent". It stops "illegal" videos from hitting the internet whereas others such as Facebook and Youtube are so "unintelligent" that they let the rubbish through and then use thousands of people to clean up the mess when it is brought to their attention.

That is why Blinkx can be so efficient with such a limited number of staff. Perhaps if he had considered Blinkx to be 265 people backed by say 1,000 "intelligent" computers he might realise that a computer costing $500 is far more efficient than a "cleaner upper" costing in the region of say $40,000. That is why the Blinkx margins are so good and the headcount revenue is so high.

So, God save us from nerdy intellectuals and if this dumbo has done one good thing it is that the panic now hitting the market has created one big buying opportunity.

a very interesting counter, and even i managed to read the whole of it!

however, the silence from the management remains unnerving to put it mildly

halifax - 30 Jan 2014 13:43 - 4910 of 6187

they are too busy consulting their lawyers!

cynic - 30 Jan 2014 13:47 - 4911 of 6187

said tongue in cheek i know, for if that were the case, then they could have put out a statement to that effect

gausie
what's your view on 4908?

Gausie - 30 Jan 2014 13:47 - 4912 of 6187

120 Resistance looking fairly firm.

I'd expect a return to 90p in the next few days. A breach of 90p would be awesome.

cynic - 30 Jan 2014 13:47 - 4913 of 6187

i say nothing :-)

Gausie - 30 Jan 2014 13:51 - 4914 of 6187

Re 4908. Too long for me to read.

All you need to know is In the price and the volume. If people really think that a fall of this magnitude is a panic reaction to an uninformed whisper then rest assured .... Holders are weak and there will inevitably be more whispers.

They should have informed the market by now.

I actually took just a quick look at that item and instantly thought Tech Freak. To be honest I dont bother with much like that as I just trade the stock and not the company.

Obviously I have a quick look at a few fundies but havent a clue what Blinx actually do other than advertise.

The chart with market action plus a few fundies is enough for me.

Ive even been known to buy stocks because I like their name. WINK.

halifax - 30 Jan 2014 14:01 - 4916 of 6187

Broker TP's look a bit rich atm (Goldman 340p!!)

halifax - 30 Jan 2014 14:13 - 4917 of 6187

maybe RNS after Wall Street opens.

Haystack - 30 Jan 2014 14:17 - 4918 of 6187

I have never liked brokers' estimates for tech shares as they often don't have the expertise to call it right. I have personal experience of this while attending a broker's lunch. A couple of analysts from a broker for a tech share were there and I knew more about the stock than they did. The lunch was specifically about that stock.

Haystack - 30 Jan 2014 14:19 - 4919 of 6187

Aren't the management of Blinkx in California? It is only 7:20am there.

I saw a comment that Blinkx is in a closed period at the moment.

skinny - 30 Jan 2014 14:20 - 4920 of 6187

Isn't that why god invented telephones?
