Drilling Update

28 October 2010

Max Petroleum Plc, an oil and gas exploration and development company focused on Kazakhstan, is pleased to announce today that the UTS-1 exploration well on the Uytas prospect in Block A has reached total depth of 827 metres. Electric logs and oil shows observed while drilling indicate potential pay zones in the well, including eight metres of estimated net oil pay in the Jurassic formation between 331 and 339 metres in depth, and six metres of estimated net oil pay in the Triassic section between 785 and 800 metres in depth. As previously announced, electric logs and pressure data also indicate an estimated 16 metres of net oil pay in the shallower Cretaceous section as part of a potentially significant 86 meter oil column ranging from 60 to 146 metres.

The Company expects to commence testing the well in approximately one month using a workover rig upon receipt of the required government approvals. After running production casing in the well, the ZJ-30 drilling rig will move on to drill the Sekir West prospect in Block A.

James A. Jeffs, Executive Co-Chairman, commented:

"We look forward to testing all three zones in order to verify commerciality of what we believe could be a significant post-salt discovery."

Got some more at a tad under 26p....

required field - 28 Oct 2010 08:44 - 488 of 695

Sp not responding to an excellent discovery....bizarre...

cynic - 28 Oct 2010 08:46 - 489 of 695

you mean you feel stiffed having bought "at a tad under 26"?

HARRYCAT - 28 Oct 2010 08:46 - 490 of 695

You mean you bought too soon??? ;o) Patience rf. This is not RKH or DES. Sp movement is actually related to reality with MXP.

required field - 28 Oct 2010 08:48 - 491 of 695

That is my latest buy.....all others are way below....

niceonecyril - 28 Oct 2010 08:55 - 492 of 695

I think it's the number of warrents out their which holds it back?

required field - 28 Oct 2010 09:04 - 493 of 695

Still the same....this looks like a mini Shaikan (nothing on that size of course)....but 3 layers of oil.....3 discoveries in one well.....has to at least one of them to be commercial...and will mean redrilling a little bit further away for appraisal probably...

required field - 28 Oct 2010 09:29 - 494 of 695

I can't believe this....3 zones full of oil and the sp drops.....ridiculous...

HARRYCAT - 28 Oct 2010 09:33 - 495 of 695

28/10/2010 10:07:34 MXP 21.13 L 200,000
That was a limit buy at 10.07 this morning, which is a bit bizarre as it's only 09.32 hrs!

required field - 28 Oct 2010 09:37 - 496 of 695

To me this is now worth a minimum of 30p....and loads of drilling to come...I know there are warrants out there ...but still the same...

required field - 28 Oct 2010 15:56 - 497 of 695

Caught me by surprise this drop....did not expect a rise to 29p followed by a drop to 20p on the same day of a discovery of triple column of oil in the same well...nuts !.

dealerdear - 28 Oct 2010 16:04 - 498 of 695

Unless of course they are doing a fund raising.

required field - 28 Oct 2010 16:09 - 499 of 695

A bit fed up today...with this ...expected 30p....now I shall have to sit it out...it just could be the delay until the testing equipment arrives...but still the same....

niceonecyril - 28 Oct 2010 16:53 - 500 of 695

Can you believe it tuned down 26.75p,thought it would recover to 30p+,only conselation is i bought at 17p. Whats gauling me is i intended to sel for a quick profit as it's not the type of share long term for me.I'll see how it does next week before dumping.
