Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Proselenes,

Very sensible post. Very good point re the spike.

In the event of a gas strike : it could be that Desire, Rockhopper and FOGL and Borders and Southern will have to club together for transporting purposes....to and where : that remains to be decided and the same for crude but to a lesser degree....not being an expert ...I'm only guessing....but in the northern basin, it seems the targets are not that far apart...might be possible to develop several together as one...therefore it would be commercial.....

I have done a rough schedule. Provided things went roughly to plan they have found something to test and have spent time running 7" liner and doing DST. Certainly means hydrocarbons have been found IMO. News should be this week of how testing went.

The lack of a P&A RNS on the 15th March is also why suddenly the price spiked up, as those with extensive shorts had to reduce their risk level and close some of them. Certainly at this stage there is hydro's and so the COS is much higher, therefore greatly increasing the risk on those with short positions, and reducing risk for those with long positions.

The over hang in RKH must be nearly all gone and very tempered to top up on some more as the price is so cheap!

If i do it will have a 1 on the end of it and will be on the plus market.

Balerboy - 22 Mar 2010 22:02 - 526 of 6294

last of the big spenders......11 rockhopper shares....lol

markymar - 22 Mar 2010 22:10 - 527 of 6294

i topped 20001 at just before 1pm today, its far to cheap....time will tell.

cynic - 23 Mar 2010 08:25 - 528 of 6294

i hope for your sake that you are right, for still the selling pressure continues, both here and on DES

Balerboy - 23 Mar 2010 08:29 - 529 of 6294

lack of news is worrying..

markymar - 23 Mar 2010 08:36 - 530 of 6294

Lack of news is good news as it means further testing is taking place, hence its a buy.

Balerboy - 23 Mar 2010 08:39 - 531 of 6294

doesn't usually pan out that way...but may the force be with you..

markymar - 23 Mar 2010 09:14 - 532 of 6294

Dont know about the force.....just need some luck!!!!

Proselenes - 24 Mar 2010 06:02 - 533 of 6294

I still stick with the official timeline of events from DES pre-drill. Taking into account a bit of bad weather and a few hiccups, and all being well some slow drilling due to encountering some zones of interest, a few days delay to the schedule should be about right, so from today up until I suggest next Wednesday (for 7 days delay) there could be news out any time. So now the excitement starts.

Certainly not a duster IMO, something of interest is there IMV.

markymar - 24 Mar 2010 17:56 - 535 of 6294

No the rig is still with Desire and will move some time next week to RKH.

mitzy - 28 Mar 2010 15:40 - 536 of 6294

Will the DES news the Times affect tomorrows opening price..?

HARRYCAT - 28 Mar 2010 15:46 - 537 of 6294

Definitely, imo & as RKH to drill two wells, should be a great time (sometime next week) to pick up some of these.

greekman - 29 Mar 2010 08:23 - 538 of 6294

Don't panic Mr Mannering,

Investing in any Oil discovery companies is and has always been high risk, especially so in areas where 'no oil in significant amounts' has been found.
All this RNS gives is known facts, without the hype, that has understandably crept into the equation.
The sp will no doubt drop on opening, and yet with the high risk high reward possibilities still being about the same as about a month ago, the closing sp on Friday is about right.
Too many people were caught up in the growing euphoria that was gaining strength almost daily. Not saying I was one of those staying totally calm and level headed, we are all human (well most of us) and I admit to allowing dreams of untold wealth to creep in, before head once again took control of heart.

So the sp will drop due to those who had a punt over the last month or two with the sole intention of the result on LIZ coming in big time and will now panic.

Personally I will wait before I consider selling, still biting nails for a bit longer till we 'KNOW the full results on Liz and Sea Lion.

Just bought a few more, but took 5 attempts to get right price and spread, as both up and down like the proverbial yo-yo.
Yes, big gamble but hopefully the right one. Just watch the day traders go on this one.

Balerboy - 29 Mar 2010 08:45 - 540 of 6294
