IQE - Silicon is the future (IQE)

Master RSI - 03 Feb 2003 11:56

IQE is the leading global outsource supplier of customized epitaxial wafers to the semiconductor industry.

Their technology is of most advanced like AFM means Atomic Force Microscopy and moves a minuscule cantilever over an objects surface, a sharp tip passes over dips or rises punched in the surface and reads out digital information. This technology is not going to slow down it is going to speed up and has to replace most existing forms of memory storage by virtue of capacity and size.

The future of nano-technology, these tiny/minute robots would need very small processors and most sure strained silicon could provide these.

The low share price is due to uncertainty as to when the cash will run out, but I don't think this will happen as cash is of 12 to 15M and NAV of 30p, and losses are going to drop on the next 3 month and we could have profits on the Q4 2004.

Latest news from the Chairman were" The Group remains confident that it is in a strong position within the outsourcing market, although the protection of its cash position is paramount.
With a broad product portfolio allowing the customer base to use IQE as a 'one stop shop', a large available production capacity and a strong balance sheet, the Board believes the Group will benefit strongly as the overall semiconductor industry recovers and will continue to strengthen its position as the leading outsource supplier of advanced wafer products to the sector. "

Nearly all the recent results have been encouraging. Q4 accounts are being completed (30th Dec 2002). IQE know where they stand, if things had got worse their would have been a trading statement by now, and with Amberwave (IQE's partner) increasing its Asian presence, this is a bullish trend and a good point to pick up the shares @ 4.25p

More good news and a nice rise in the sp as a result so far:

IQE ('the Group', AIM: IQE), the leading global outsource supplier of customised wafer products and outsource wafer services to the semiconductor industry, today publishes a trading update for the year to 31 December 2006.

The Group has also today in a separate statement published details of its acquisition of MBE Technology Pte Ltd ('MBE'), a Singapore based manufacturer of compound epitaxial ('epi') wafers for a total cash consideration of S$23 million (7.5 million).

IQE has continued to perform well during the second half of 2006 with the Group's overall business performing in the line with the Board's expectations. Demand for the Group's wafer products has continued to be strong across all sectors of the business.

The weak US dollar has had an impact on revenues, but the natural hedging derived from a significant proportion of Group costs being in US dollars has reduced the impact on profitability.

The integration of the former EMD facility, acquired in August 2006, has been very successful with demand for wireless products in that business exceeding expectations. The ability to 'multi-source' wireless products from within the Group is proving to be a major benefit for both IQE and its customers.

The acquisition has also provided IQE with the opportunity to qualify new and existing customers with additional wireless products and to accelerate development of its advanced next generation products, such as the BiFET. These two developments have resulted in some additional costs during H2 2006, but are expected to significantly benefit the Group moving forward during 2007.

miner49er - 08 Jun 2007 15:11 - 59 of 1520

More institutional activity today could see the recent overhang clear and 14.5p form the bottom. Bridgewell now covering IQE and pointing at 20p.

Posted on June 8th, 2007 in Market whispers.

Bridgewell initiates coverage with a buy and 20p fair value.
Broker says: The acquisitions of two competitors have transformed IQE from also-ran into the leading outsourced supplier of compound semiconductor wafers globally, and have significantly enhanced the companys competitive, risk and financial profiles.
With the outlook for compound semiconductors looking healthy, we believe that IQE is finally poised to enjoy the benefits of its massively leveraged business model.
