Given the paralysis that has afflicted the markets, I cannot understand why gold has not gone much higher? When the price was high round about 1980,was the situation as bad as it is now? Of course the worry then was of a much different nature.-war over Afghanistan.
The fear now over the future of the entire financial system seems much more scary.

which do you think has the better prospects for long term profitability KAH or POG?
i appreciate both are from diff fields[gold/uranium] but both are subject t/over speculation[in POG case t/over of ORE]

Amazing what an immediate result the spot price has on the gold producers.
POG, RRS, FRES etc all down today (Market also down which has added to the problem).

Broker S pierce who had stock under revision now gives following figs, looks like these have been missed by PIs, from 20/2/2009
Peter Hambro Mining PLC
FORECASTS
2008 2009
Date Rec Pre-tax () EPS (p) DPS (p) Pre-tax () EPS (p) DPS (p)
Seymour Pierce
20-02-09 85.55 20.37 157.05 27.16
EPS of 157.05p for 2009.................................... derd cheap.
the stock with that analysis figure is way undervalued.

If the above figure EPS is correct, with 97.16 million shares in circulation -puts earnings in the 150 million area.
Sounds impressive.
Mind you,all the gold and precious metal stocks seem to be under the cosh at the moment.

CP, yep thats what the revised figure is. (SP have had it under revision since the new production figures).
Now I can only assume its the figure showing the increased production and revised figs for the next year on gold for POG.
Cant see that they have included anything for ORE, surely not as the deal hasnt gone through.
The figures were posted it shows on the 20th of this month and have only been seen by PIs or picked up on by PIs today.
Having said that it looks mighty suspicious that the SP of POG is being controlled by the MMS at the moment in relation to ORE.
Looks like a 500p floor is in place now rather than the 550p floor of last week.
Either that or my chart skills are a lot better than I give myself credit for.
Tend to think its the former.

it would suit POG for their sp to be as high as possible to make their offer for ORE ever more enticing - not the reverse!

Gold rises as four-day losses attract buyers
By Moming Zhou
Last update: 8:16 a.m. EST Feb. 27, 2009
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures rose Friday for the first session in five, climbing above $950 an ounce as losses in the previous four sessions attracted buyers. Gold for April delivery rose $12, or 1.3%, to $954.60 an ounce in early North American electronic trading. It had tumbled $60 from its last Friday's high above $1,000. "Gold was supported by bargain hunter demand," said James Moore, an analyst at TheBullionDesk.com
