IQE - Silicon is the future (IQE)

Master RSI - 03 Feb 2003 11:56

IQE is the leading global outsource supplier of customized epitaxial wafers to the semiconductor industry.

Their technology is of most advanced like AFM means Atomic Force Microscopy and moves a minuscule cantilever over an objects surface, a sharp tip passes over dips or rises punched in the surface and reads out digital information. This technology is not going to slow down it is going to speed up and has to replace most existing forms of memory storage by virtue of capacity and size.

The future of nano-technology, these tiny/minute robots would need very small processors and most sure strained silicon could provide these.

The low share price is due to uncertainty as to when the cash will run out, but I don't think this will happen as cash is of 12 to 15M and NAV of 30p, and losses are going to drop on the next 3 month and we could have profits on the Q4 2004.

Latest news from the Chairman were" The Group remains confident that it is in a strong position within the outsourcing market, although the protection of its cash position is paramount.
With a broad product portfolio allowing the customer base to use IQE as a 'one stop shop', a large available production capacity and a strong balance sheet, the Board believes the Group will benefit strongly as the overall semiconductor industry recovers and will continue to strengthen its position as the leading outsource supplier of advanced wafer products to the sector. "

Nearly all the recent results have been encouraging. Q4 accounts are being completed (30th Dec 2002). IQE know where they stand, if things had got worse their would have been a trading statement by now, and with Amberwave (IQE's partner) increasing its Asian presence, this is a bullish trend and a good point to pick up the shares @ 4.25p

RNS interim results on 19th September.

Activmoto - 29 Aug 2013 10:46 - 642 of 1520

Makes good reading

Edison report

robstuff - 05 Sep 2013 09:23 - 643 of 1520

Thanks Activmoto, it does indeed. I think iqe is undervalued too and 45p is a realistic short term target

Activmoto - 16 Sep 2013 16:47 - 644 of 1520

Results out 19th unsure how they will be received

robstuff - 17 Sep 2013 08:22 - 645 of 1520

Should show a prospective p/e of around 11, so sp would have to double to get back to a more normal 22 in line with others. My target for this yr is 45p based on eps of 2.2

robstuff - 17 Sep 2013 14:20 - 646 of 1520

Some realization of the undervalue, and looks like some steady stake building ahead of Thurs results. The price has broken the resistance four times now and suggests next resistance 37.5 which i would think we will see on Thursday.

goldfinger - 17 Sep 2013 14:27 - 647 of 1520

Up over 4% on the day. Very nice.

Hope we get a added note with results re-to sale of wafer contracts etc.

Activmoto - 17 Sep 2013 15:24 - 648 of 1520

With all the positive news regarding IQEs partners & peers it difficult to imagine a negative interim, unless something has gone wrong. If they were going to undershoot by a lot we would have heard.
My feeling is, things have gone well and we will have a pleasant surprise along with a re-rating up on the SP

sit tight

goldfinger - 17 Sep 2013 15:35 - 649 of 1520

Ive added again this afternoon.

parrisf - 17 Sep 2013 16:24 - 650 of 1520

So have I.

robstuff - 18 Sep 2013 09:20 - 651 of 1520

Results tomorrow expected rev 62m, ebitda around 10m, so if higher will push shares up. IMO rev will be higher, not sure about profit as cost synergies need to bed in, the real benefit will come with the full yr results. Market will be looking at the rev fig and fwd looking statement. It's getting exciting.

goldfinger - 18 Sep 2013 14:34 - 652 of 1520

hmmmmm just left skinny a message on the chart attack thread. Anything we dont know about.?

Activmoto - 18 Sep 2013 16:07 - 653 of 1520

sit tight, just a slight pull back from 6 month high. possibly someone with an order to fill.
I have a stop loss at 28.6p just in case,
I still think we are in for a nice surprise, I sure there is a rabbit in the hat waiting

halifax - 18 Sep 2013 16:11 - 654 of 1520

what's that saying buy on the rumour sell on the news!

robstuff - 18 Sep 2013 16:18 - 655 of 1520

unless the news is better than most think, IQE has been suffering from pessimistic shorters for a while, need a good result and positive statement to flush them out once and for all.
I suspect Super results tomorrow with a big early mark up.

Activmoto - 18 Sep 2013 16:19 - 656 of 1520

a bird in the hand is a stich in time

Activmoto - 18 Sep 2013 16:22 - 657 of 1520

It could also be shorters closing there positions.

I think it has held up strongly, buyers moving back as I Type it will finish up on the day

goldfinger - 18 Sep 2013 16:26 - 658 of 1520

Activ.....unless your stop is a guranteed stop, 28.6p will be shot through on bad news.

Personaly dont use them unless they are followers or if Im away for a while from the desk.

Fast markets these days and too spikey.

Activmoto - 18 Sep 2013 16:34 - 659 of 1520

Thanks for the heads up I know the risk it may not be filled.

The option is to sell and buy back if the SP moves up but the same can happen

I don't usually use them, I feel a little more positive as the market closes.

I in because I think it will rise, my call

I have another share results out tomorrow, lots to think about

goldfinger - 18 Sep 2013 16:42 - 660 of 1520

Activ Ive had a look around 5 other boards and their seems to be a trend of investors locking in some profits 'just in case tomorrow'.

Think it must be historical let downs.

Lets hope the yanks are up tomorrow and we get a good result.
