FEVERTREE DRINKS PLC (FEVR)

dreamcatcher - 08 Nov 2014 16:51

Fever-Tree is the world's leading supplier of premium carbonated mixers for alcoholic spirits by retail sales value, with distribution to approximately 50 countries internationally.

Based in the UK, the brand was launched in 2005 by Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow to provide high quality, natural mixers which could accompany the growing demand for premium spirits. The Group now sells a range of 12 differentiated flavours to hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes ("On Trade") as well as supermarkets and off-licenses for retail purchase ("Off Trade"). Approximately 70 per cent. of the Group's sales were derived from outside of the UK in FY13 with the key overseas markets being the US, Spain, and Belgium.

The Group's mixers are designed to be accompaniments for alcoholic spirits or used in cocktails, although they can also be consumed on their own. Since 2005, the Company has launched at least one new product a year, which includes 4 variants of tonic water, 2 variants of ginger beer, 3 variants of lemonade, and one variant each of ginger ale, soda water and cola.

I am not a holder but feel that the diversification of their various products (a.o. 4!!! types of tonic water) is confusing and not contributing to balance sheet one iota. (More than pleased to listen to counter arguments)

cynic - 09 Jan 2019 14:09 - 685 of 711

so you really think FEVR should operate with just a single mixer? ...... actually they have quite a range over and above tonic water

robinhood - 09 Jan 2019 14:30 - 686 of 711

I know they do other mixers and rightly so - but to have say 4 tonic flavors.. hmmm may be not. Give you an example: my wife asked me last week to get 2 bottles of diet coke and 4 bottles of fevertree tonic as they are heavy to carry. When getting to drinks section at supermarket did i know which tonic flavor to get? nope!!.

Thanks Skinny -so only 12!!! tonic waters (incl "refreshing" light types).....

robinhood - 09 Jan 2019 15:08 - 689 of 711

Am retired-always have been an oil trader in international spot market-never have been in marketing and if I am wrong about types of tonic water then may be that was a good decision..

cynic - 09 Jan 2019 15:08 - 690 of 711

wait for their numbers before criticising

it could be that they are just testing the market with assorted flavours of tonic - an innovation in its own right - and will ditch any that do not pay their way
for sure FEVR won't be just playing about

skinny - 09 Jan 2019 15:13 - 691 of 711

Schweppes's response

and

Britvic's

cynic - 09 Jan 2019 15:41 - 692 of 711

they are both playing catchup with FEVR, having serious missed the boat to buy the company at perhaps £4-5 a share

robinhood - 09 Jan 2019 15:48 - 693 of 711

only see 4 schweppes tonics and only 2 britvics tonics. As I said i am not criticising and I am not a mktg man so what do I know other than ,as a layman, Fevertree range seem excessive on its tonic range. Good luck to holders though and I do not mind the " na-na-na-ha-na" if i am wrong

skinny - 09 Jan 2019 15:50 - 694 of 711

Click on the 1783 tab in the Schweppes link.

And there are at least 4 Britvic.

robinhood - 09 Jan 2019 16:14 - 695 of 711

we'll reconvene later this year-only friendly banter anyway

Trading Update

Fever-Tree, the world's leading supplier of premium carbonated mixers, is pleased to announce its trading update for the year ended 31 December 2018, ahead of its Preliminary Results on 26th March 2019.

Full year revenue is expected to be circa £236 million, reflecting growth of 39% on 2017, driven by:

- very strong revenue growth of circa 52% in the UK with robust rate of sales growth in both the on and off trade channels. The UK enjoyed an outstanding summer trading period and finished the year with a strong performance over Christmas. The Group further strengthened its position as the number one mixer brand by value in the UK off-trade* whilst continuing to broaden its distribution across the on-trade.

- significant operational progress in the USA in our first period of direct management of the region, with growth in the second half accelerating, resulting in full year revenue circa 21% ahead of 2017. The relationship with Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits continues to develop well and the Group is confident that the exclusive on trade agreement signed with them in the second half, alongside the positive progress seen in the off-trade, provides an excellent platform for further growth in 2019.

- acceleration in sales growth in Continental Europe in the second half of 2018, with full year revenue anticipated to be circa 24% ahead of 2017. The Group saw positive momentum across a number of key territories, and we remain at the forefront of the premium mixer category across the region.

- encouraging performance in the Rest of the World with full year revenue expected to be circa 48% ahead of 2017.

Year-end net cash position is anticipated to be in line with Board expectations.

Reflecting the continued strong performance in the second half, the Board expects that the outcome for the full year will be comfortably ahead of the Board's expectations.

*(IRI - Total UK Retail Mixer Market value share - 13 weeks to 31/12/18)

Commenting on today's announcement, Tim Warrillow, Co-founder and CEO of Fever-Tree said:

"We have seen very strong momentum across the business during 2018. The UK delivered an exceptional performance while Europe has seen positive performance resulting in growth accelerating in the second half. We are particularly encouraged by the progress to date in the USA and the strong platform for further growth this provides.

The progress we have seen during the last 12 months means we enter 2019 very well positioned and remain optimistic about the long-term global opportunity ahead.

Drinking habits are changing. The rise of premium spirits and the advent of premium mixers has reinvigorated and re-established the quality and enjoyment of the long-mixed drink, be it a gin & tonic, vodka & ginger beer or whiskey & ginger ale to name but a few. Fever-Tree is at the forefront of this trend, broadening the appeal of the spirits category, drawing in new consumers and with it providing a genuine alternative to the beer and wine occasion."
