Marchpole - Nice New Clothes (MPH)

Socrates - 30 May 2003 18:58

Marchpole is one of those stocks which have had a really bad time. Boardroom battles, losses, price collapse, profit warnings up the ying yang.

Now all of those things seem to be sorted out, new management are getting to grips, new contracts and the price is on the up. So much so that Monday ought to see a 50/200 day MA golden cross.

DYOR of course, but I think I will be putting a few of these away at the open.

Blimey cynic, this used to be a stockmarket darling along with Vanco, (used to own shares in both), both gone down the sinkhole... the ever changing world of the stockmarket... unthinkable a few years ago !

cynic - 01 Feb 2008 19:18 - 682 of 715

read back and you will see what i think of the management ..... MM has reaped what he has sown .... little to no sympathy for him

Marchpole Shareholders Action Group

email: mphagrp@live.co.uk

Investigating the possibility abuse of market procedure by the company directors and possible redress. Real names etc not required at this stage, just expression of interest and some idea of losses.

cynic - 09 Feb 2008 13:19 - 684 of 715

shareholders' brains or lack of them need investigating

Momentis - 09 Feb 2008 19:56 - 685 of 715

Thank you for your contribution, tosser.

Do you have to work hard at it or does it, as seems to be the case, come naturally?

BTW, the judgement of someone who uses AOL as an ISP has to be seriously questioned. It is generally the refuge of those too incompetent to tie their own shoelaces.

cynic - 10 Feb 2008 07:12 - 686 of 715

your Neanderthal behaviour and rantings highlight your own shortcomings.
i have been posting for many months as to why i considered in inevitable that MPH would come to a sticky end, and so it has proved.
you chose to ignore that, as is your prerogative but de facto you have only yourself to blame for your losses.
try taking it like man, or at least one step up the evolutionary ladder, as a Cro-Magnon
my only surprise is that MPH's demise has happened so quickly.
my only regret is a lack of balls to short the stock.

Momentis - 10 Feb 2008 09:51 - 687 of 715

"Biography:

an opinionated pain who neverthless refuses to take himself too seriously and rarely gets upset by acid retort from those whose feathers he has ruffled."

Failed that little test of your own too then.

Perhaps rather than hiding around the backstreets of moneyam, you might want to visit one of its competitors where you might find a few more informed views. I am not a holder and have not been for several months, the action group info was cross posted here as a courtesy.

The (I'll see your neanderthal and raise you a) childish response hardly added to any discussion here. Perhaps you are related to Morris, he said shareholders were "out of their brains" for selling (see FT)!

I think you may need a few counselling sessions to get over yourself.

cynic - 10 Feb 2008 14:31 - 688 of 715

pathetic .... you must be related to scottinvestor and his clan.
if you think throwing a tantrum at Michael Morris will do you and your other friends any good, then i think you will be sorely disappointed.
clearly you have some link with MPH and/or its shares for otherwise you would not have posted at all ..... i look sceptically and with good reason at so-called altruistic motive

personally, i do not think that either MM or MPH has behaved remotely illegally.
as i have oft said, the company is run by a total egocentric with a complete lack of man-management skills or even a realisation of that shortcoming.
while the high street is indeed suffering, and for very obvious reasons, MPH's profligacy with its seedcorn designers has brought inevitable disaster on itself.

no sympathy for them or the investors from this site who have been well forewarned

Momentis - 10 Feb 2008 15:39 - 689 of 715

I am loathe to help you get out of your delusional state as, I am told, such a procedure is best carried out by a qualified doctor.

However, I have been advised that the side effects tend to only leave the subject as a gibbering idiot for a week or two. So, whether any one will notice any difference is a bit of a moot point.

Two points, if you can manage to concentrate long enough:

1. You are the instigator of this abusive exchange (see 684). It is laughable that you seem to be trying to seize some kind of moral (or other) high ground.

2. You may find that judgements on Marchpole, Morris etc boil down to a little more than his inability to retain or recruit a knitwear designer. This seems to be the main driver for your bearish comments.

I will not comment further here, I think you are best left talking to the empty room that was this thread before my post. You can then hear the echo of your own voice in peace, marvel at it and be at one with your own, pompous, self regard.

cynic - 10 Feb 2008 16:52 - 690 of 715

Morris has lost far more than just one knitwear designer ... that incident was merely symptomatic of the underlying malaise.

anyway, at the end of the day, the share price, as mouthpiece of the market's view of the company, speaks for itself .....or would you care to refute that and claim that the market has it all wrong and that soon, the poor and becoming ever more poor and more battered shareholders will be basking in ever rising profits?

in fact, other than choosing to abuse me, about which i care little, you do not seem to have disagreed with anything i have posted, or even come up with a credible alternative reason as to the company/sp's demise.

if you think Morris/MPH has acted illegally or irresponsibly in other ways, perhaps you would care to enlighten us all ..... or even if you wish to act as chief apologist on his/its behalf

by the way, have my bearish comments proved to be misplaced or even post-event?

Master RSI - 19 Feb 2008 16:12 - 697 of 715

cynic

it may, but sure there is value at this market cap.

Time for a good bounce

cynic - 19 Feb 2008 16:35 - 698 of 715

if i were to venture into high street stocks, it sure wouldn't be with MPH .... half tempted by Woolies tho

if MPH bounce, it will surely only be a small and unsustainable DCB ..... 2 profit warnings so far .... old adage of course predicts 3

Master RSI - 19 Feb 2008 16:39 - 699 of 715

woolies if it comesback close to 10/10.50p

I was in and out at 11.75p
