tiltoman - I can not reply to your question unless you send me an email address.

However I am pleased that you took the advice in Spring and did not buy into Sterling then!

Times are a changing, strategies change too.

I have said all I have to here, the rest is up to you.

well...i sold the balance (very scrappy) holding last night to some lovely punter who lifted the 50,000 i had on the offer at 14.5. held this way way too long and the bookmark position was to keep SEY on my watchpage...

how is trix with the old team?

poo bear - 27 Nov 2007 23:25 - 7006 of 7811

This thread was started on 14th June 2004.

The share price was oscillating between 14pence and 16 pence then.

Today it closed at 14 pence and could be on a renewed down turn, I trust cynic to put me right there.

Plainly underachieving.

Don't care too much about what's in the pipeline, I would never in a million years have expected this to have happened, or not as the case may be.

poo bear - 27 Nov 2007 23:28 - 7007 of 7811

prop, as I have had a personality change you will know that I think this sucks.

I should have stayed out when I sold out in 2006. I didn't although I have made a few quid trading here and there, it's not really been worth the effort of pushing buttons, while others stocks have run away, like soco dana and jkx.

Good luck to new holders with new money, I hope they wont need the luck.

proptrade - 29 Nov 2007 18:13 - 7008 of 7811

well back when i started the thread i think i paid 12.5p...seriously underwhelmed!

so what shall we now look at???????

poo bear - 29 Nov 2007 19:03 - 7009 of 7811

Well, I have had my attention grabbed for some time by NPE and TRP, in particular but mostly I have been dumming down for 9 months or so.

I keep looking at WLW and thinking that can't be right, but I am not too sure I want to take out a pun t on it just in case it disappears up it's own ar*ehole.

Have a look see at TRP for Uganda in particular, Namibia less so in my book. NPE is one that will get taken out sometime by it's parent Company most likely, plus it has a nice portfolio of safe North Sea assets.

There's plenty over on ADVFN for both, less so here.

Not too sure about your PANR tip, it's been through the wars........

poo bear - 25 Jan 2008 14:36 - 7010 of 7811

What shall we look at?

Not this one.

Looking back to Novemeber I coud have made a few quid on my thoughts for the overall market, but then I also have not lost any.

TRP, IVE and NPE

I had an sold some WLW from it's low frankly I think this market rally is very reassuring but also short term.

Small oilers did not move during the depressed period.

Under 8p now, bargain I think, out with the old and in with the new it looks like today.

STERLING ENERGY PLC
('Sterling' or the 'Company')

USA GAS DISCOVERY & PRODUCTION INCREASE

Sterling Energy (AIM: SEY), an independent oil & gas exploration and production
company with interests in the USA, Africa and the Middle East, is pleased to
announce a gas discovery from its Marlin #1 well, Texas, USA and an increase in
USA production.

The Marlin #1 well has been tested at a rate of 3.4 mmcfgd (net to Sterling) on
a 26/64 inch choke, flowing at 6,100 psi. This Austin Chalk well was drilled to
approximately 15,000 feet. Sterling anticipates first sales in April 2008.

USA production for the first two months of 2008 averaged 28 mmcfged compared
with 25 mmcfged in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Graeme Thomson, CEO of Sterling, commented:

'This is a very pleasing result which will add materially to our near-term USA
production revenues.'

Morning Goal. I like the bit 'net to Sterling' :-)

goal - 14 Mar 2008 10:03 - 7014 of 7811

Hello opto, this bit sounds good too, Sterling anticipates first sales in April 2008.

optomistic - 14 Mar 2008 10:11 - 7015 of 7811

Does indeed Goal and at 6100 lbs/sq ft pressure it is not going to take much to get it out of the ground :-)

ahoj - 14 Mar 2008 10:57 - 7016 of 7811

So, they won't go under. Those shorted this company should start buying back next week. IMO

The volume yesterday was the third highest volume ever since ten years ago. 80M was the highest just before it touched 35p... I bought at 33p though!

optomistic - 14 Mar 2008 11:12 - 7017 of 7811

ahoj, sure about the volume, we had 64 million traded yesterday, I'm sure I have seen several other high days?
Re the short traders, if they leave it until next week they could be a long way out, shorts need to close fast IMO.
33p seems a lot nearer today than yesterday but will take more than a few days to see that figure again.
Good luck
opto

poo bear - 14 Mar 2008 23:41 - 7018 of 7811

I very much doubt there was any shorting of this company.

More like ineptitude by the management and a complete disregard of the small investor.

That is why HW has been side;lined and in the nick of time too imo.

Now it has a chance if you are prepared to hold for another 5 years.

I will hold my few just for fun after all they cost me nowt!

Meantime those who feel the need may ramp away.

Andy - 15 Mar 2008 13:12 - 7019 of 7811

Long time since I looked in here!

Finally, some good exploration news!

One point that seems to have been missed, and I'm surprised SEY didn't mention it in their RNS, is the higher price of gas in USA, which will compound the already higher production in 2008.

Add on the new production, and all in all a decent result.

ahoj - 16 Mar 2008 22:54 - 7020 of 7811

SEY will be more valuable to bigger player as Shell is reducing it's reserve.
