Punters' favourite Gulf Keystone Petroleum jumped 10.25p to 108.25p on rumours of an imminent announcement. The shares were recently 'roofed' by news of a 'value transforming' discovery in Northern Iraq, which could yield twice as much oil as had been estimated.

Even more oil ? that would be staggering...difficult to believe that they might have another billion barrels or so...that would make shaikan one of the greatest oil wells in middle east history...

cynic - 15 Oct 2009 09:52 - 754 of 5505

from a chart point of view, notwithstanding that sp has dropped back from yesterday's (freak) high, but that sp even now is holding comfortably above 100, which was a potential serious(?) resistance .... sp is holding at previous all-time closing high of 104

required field - 15 Oct 2009 09:57 - 755 of 5505

Another oil discovery with good testing should send the sp at least up another 20p or so.....or they could say : well completed now on to the next well...either way this is an outstanding successful drilling campaign so far !.

Off again...what a mover this can be......

required field - 15 Oct 2009 17:58 - 757 of 5505

Oil heading for $77 a barrel.....shot up since ftse close.....should put up oil stocks tomorrow unless there is an overnight reverse but I doubt it.

Lot of last minute buying going on....

cynic - 19 Oct 2009 15:48 - 759 of 5505

these are on the rampage this afternoon though no news and reported volume only 3m against daily norm of 10m ..... i guess it's conceivable that there's a slab of unfilled orders still lurking ..... clsoe of biz may reveal something

I was just about to say the same: they're zipping along suddenly.
