another case of relax, sit tight and wait for the news.

Pushed the boat out and went to Brewers Fayre.
Outstanding Sunday Lunch for the money.
Lamb with shallots in a rosemary gravy, in a suet pudding, mash two veg, 6.95, plus a pud of course, latte coffee, very nice.
Don't know if they all come up to the same measure, but this was excellent.
Total bill for 4 was just over 50, and the good news was the Missus paid for it ;-))
Plus nectar points of course, which I had!

ooohhh, sounds at least as on par with mine. nothing like a lazy lunch for four on a sunday...
love the nectar point reference, nothing like VFM and a bonus!

Think I lost on the Sunday lunch front. Steak pie, mashed potatoes and green beens, no pud or Nectar points. Still good but not as good as you two. Offer moved up to 18p now.

gavdfc,
Are we related? I don't do Sunday lunch (takes to long out of the day!) and instead eat in the evening. However, I also had steak pie but with chips and baked beans.

I baked a couple of chunks of Alaskan wild salmon, bought from Tesco, and served it simply with some seasonal veg. More expensive than the Scottish farmed variety but tasted much better.

sounds like you are moving up in the world, at least you are on solid food as opposed to the dripping last week....

Hilary,
Lol! Maybe it's just great minds thinking alike, either that or we're long lost cousins or something! Around here, Sunday lunch happens around 5ish so I guess it's a Sunday tea, not lunch. As for tonights tea, will be fish and chips served with some pickled onions, real classy!
MS,
Maybe you should try spicing up your meals. How about that old bone marinated in sesame oil and cracked black pepper, then babrecued with a teriyake dipping sauce. As for the dripping, maybe add some herbs and a side salad. ;-)
Such a quiet day here!

Does eating bones give you wind? What's left of the bone I'm going to give it to the mothering law for christmas dinner. On account that she loves me so much.

My husband would be impressed with your style, mickey. I'd best not let him read this thread in case it sows some seeds.

Micky, so that you are well catered for this coming Christmas, I have decided to send you the left overs from the dinner, and a nearly empty bottle of Champagne from the New Year celebrations.
I hope you enjoy anything you can find in that lot.

Mickey - Boil the bone for broth, add seawall's leftovers and you could live off that for a week!
