No need to worry soul.

bonfield - 03 Jul 2006 17:42 - 882 of 2511

yes, cynic. my post got interrupted! my point is you cannot compare apples with oranges. Dana is a producer, nothing like VOG. And it's almost all oil not gas, mostly North Sea. Same with Burren I'd imagine, oil I mean. Different sectors, different rules of engagement.

If you look at similar companies, Empyrean, Max P, Gulfsands etc you'll see most of them are still struggling to get back off the floor but none have done quite as badly as VOG I don't think. DNX,BUR, and the others in the producing sector are recovering very quickly. Different risk profile.

Until VOG stops falling, I cannot confidently call it a buy. And if it's cheap, the Directors should be buying it. They did before at 78p (a discount to the 100p mkt price in November), so where are they now. We're not in a close period are we?

As for Ambrian, they are joint house broker so what they say is sales literature not research.

lizard - 03 Jul 2006 19:40 - 883 of 2511

these mm are so predictable!.

explosive - 03 Jul 2006 19:50 - 884 of 2511

Are directors not in a closed period preventing them from buying? Also lets not forget options already held at various prices....

Cynic, just like to say good posts today telling it how it really is!!

cynic - 03 Jul 2006 20:12 - 885 of 2511

Bonfield ..... though you are right to say Ambrian has something of a bias, their reporting nevertheless has to be responsible and not just hype ..... that alone makes their opinion worth reading

pumben - 03 Jul 2006 23:12 - 886 of 2511

What I find a mystery is that 21st June MAN Financials sells their whole holding in VOG. Bad news arrive on 29th June, price plummets and today MAN buy back into VOG !!! Something fishy ?????

rmhyams - 04 Jul 2006 00:04 - 887 of 2511

For pumben

I don't think that MAN Financials sold their whole holding. I believe that they just sold enough to put their holding at less than 3%, thus making their holding non notifiable.

Regards

under 100p imo still a bargain!>

scotinvestor - 07 Jul 2006 10:31 - 889 of 2511

next stop 50p me thinks.

might buy in then

soul traders - 07 Jul 2006 10:34 - 890 of 2511

Scot, I love you - if ever there was a man who could be relied upon to chime in with "We're all doomed!" at the appropriate moment, then you are him :o)

If it does hit fifty-pee you'll hear my cheering all the way from Frankfurt, cos I shall then be filling my Santa-sack with a load more!!

Stiff upper lip, men -we'll get through.

cynic - 07 Jul 2006 10:37 - 891 of 2511

Tell me scot, how large a short position do you hold and do you intend to take any profits yet?

That said, I certainly do not expect much upward movment from VOG for the next couple of months as I doubt that they will have any news to report.

lizard - 07 Jul 2006 10:51 - 892 of 2511

oh joy!- always potential for acquisitions /jv.

it seems vog not the only one struggling in the energy sector. considering oil at around $75 pb- they will be in vogue soon imo.

cynic - 07 Jul 2006 10:57 - 893 of 2511

VOG will be chirpy again if/when they come up with some good news .... I still hold mine

lizard - 07 Jul 2006 11:04 - 894 of 2511

still in goo cynic?- when will they inform the mkt on brazil acquisitions?. holding vog med long term.

cynic - 07 Jul 2006 11:07 - 895 of 2511

yes still in GOO ..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! ....... ditto CHP

lizard - 07 Jul 2006 12:09 - 896 of 2511

this is getting f1cked!. i dont believe the recent rns warrants a hammering like this but then again mm.

cynic - 07 Jul 2006 12:24 - 897 of 2511

just a spin off as peeps who do not want to hold long(er) term get out ..... warranted or not does not really enter the equation.

skyhigh - 07 Jul 2006 12:35 - 898 of 2511

still a bummer though isn't it !

I'm holding for the long term,,, I got in at 2 before the spike to 2.60p and then again at 1.70... looks as though it's going much lower before any rebound.. oh for some good news for a change !

cynic - 07 Jul 2006 12:41 - 899 of 2511

For what it's worth (noty much really), there looks to be some sort of support around this level and again at 50 (as Scot mooted) ....... However, the share in intrinsically pretty volatile, so chart support/resistance are probably pretty irrelevant ..... It will be news and sentiment that governs sp, and there is no news due for a month or two.

soul traders - 07 Jul 2006 13:18 - 900 of 2511

Agreed.
