Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

I know this is the 'Talk to Yourself Thread', and I agree it was created so that anything can be said on any subject, but I am sure most agree it is getting childishly pathetic.
Come on you lot, What happened to good serious discussions, Not so serious chat, Jokes and Humor, and just about anything of interest.
The last few weeks, have been almost continual bickering.

Do Microsoft care.
About 2 weeks ago, my wife had an automatic update to Windows Live (she runs Vista).
Ever since we have been unable to connect by video to our daughter and granddaughter.
We have now found out via Microsoft's help line, that due to this update, they no longer support a video link via windows live for vista.
We had tried for a several of hours to sort it, before finding this out.
How nice of Microsoft to update the system and not inform anyone that it would mean we could not use it as we had before.
According to a blog, there have been many such complaints.
I am not one for knocking a company that becomes a monopoly due to size, as long as they still put customer care first.
It is obvious that Microsoft are too big to care!

Post 9303.
Arrest that man!
I was thinking of stirring the pot, but I think I will go back to France first.
But, if the Greek was serious, I would like to know what Cameron and the Oik are going to prevent the double dip recession.
What a shambles. The only policies this mob have are destroying public services.

David Cameron has just sympathised with David Beckham, what more could we ask of him? Surely he has done enough for his country now. Time for him to retire? Cryptic puzzle - do I mean Cameron or Beckham?:0)

Hi Fred,
Re Cameron and Clegg.
I think it is impossible to do as bad as the last lot. Labours record speaks for itself. As to the coalition, time as they say will tell. Many voters gave Labour 14 years, at least give this lot a bit longer to prove themselves, or not.
PS Send me a card if you go to France.
I do enjoy your input, although we will never agree on politics.
regards Greek.

I tend to squelch posters who are rude, personally insulting or just post plain continual rubbish I have no interest in.
As for Fred, he comes over as a Die in the Wool Labourite, but that does not rate him a squelch in my book. I do tend to let go of political discussions after a couple of exchanges, as Fred and myself completely disagree, and it saves the, Yes they are, No their not, type of posts.
I appreciate others have a different criteria re squelching, to which I have no problem.

Greek,
I hope it is "dyed-in-the-wool". But at the moment,I am grimly holding on to life, in order to torment and spite a few.
I hope, that I have time to convert you to holding a sensible and responsible political position!
My leanings are to-wards socialism, rather than conservative tribalism and see the unmoderated self-interest of the present and recent tory party as destructive to social unity, with the associated malfunctioning.
But I have problems with the "New Labour" and its lack of courage on policies and some of its tragic decisions on supporting American policies and pandering to the press and acceding to public whim.
One of the most irritating features of the previous government was for me, its short ill-thought responses to "minor" problems with the same knee jerk, emotion grabbing response as the new "grating leader Cameron" has.
With the majority they had, there was now need for Labour to do so.
But I do believe they improved the Health Service, Education (in general), especially social services, (in spite of highly publicised failures) and the general infrastructure of the country.
Britain was in many ways a far more comfortable country for the majority of people in 2008 than 1997. (That excludes some of those who worship Mammon.)
Also, I believe that the labour government made many mistakes, some of which they should/could have admitted to earlier.
As far a party affiliation is concerned, I have always felt I had more in common with Libs/Dems of Ming, Steel,Paddy and Vince, but have no time for Clegg and many of his associates.
My feelings are the moment are that the present government will not last 5years.
I think they are on a disaster course as far as the economy is concerned and are going to create social misery and disharmony, when it is unnecessary.
I think unemployment will soar and the employment and unemployment figures given recently don't take into account part time working. etc.
I think this may cause more unrest than we had in the 70s, which was viewed by many as a very dangerous period.
More dangerous than 1926-1938 period.
Have a nice holiday sometime and try France. (The true home of socialism.)
I will give you the password. if they won't let you in.

Fred,
Been to France twice, absolutely loved it, so may go back next year.
As to 'dyed-in-the-wool', your right of course. The problem with being dyslexic, is that when you spell check a word, it does not correct the meaning, only the spelling, hence 'Died' came out correct.
You should have seen my spelling of dyslexic before I spell checked it.
Re politics. As said we could debate forever and get nowhere, so have to agree to differ.

Greek, I too was dyslexic and the trait seems to pass down through the family.
I had a daughter who when she was very small, was been suggested that she was naughty and lazy, as her sisters were able to read and write etc. before going to school.
This third daughter took a year + out after O-A levels and back packed around Australia etc. for a year.
Return to A levels, then to Uni and got a hons degree in Marine Biology, beating her sisters by getting her PHd. etc before them.
Now back in Uni. doing further Bio formatics or something like that as she switched out of research in genetics, into programming after about 5years..
Dhe still has blind spots in spelling etc. (and with me) but thank god for computers, it released her to be able to do what she wanted.
Even now if I have anything important to write (not very often, about once every five years) I still have my wife check my attempts for grammar and spelling errors.
Strange disorder, covers many permutations and different disorders and only in recent years have I been able to understand and find ways around some of the problems.
As you have kids, check their writing, as one of the things I use to try and do was cover mistakes by having appalling writing. (It never worked, but the strange thing was, even though I could do maths and physics and played chess for school from the second year, I often got zero for English, languages and the other art subjects, nobody asked why.
I eventually found acceptable dodges to get around some of the difficulties.
The condition if recognised can be remedied to a certain degree.
