As I pointed out earlier the bullish inverse head and shoulders pattern on the chart........

This has been my best performing share since I went back into the markets in late 2008.

It has set a new high today defying the gravity of the rest of the Markets.

I wish all of my shares had performed like this!

Goldfinger

Read your Kipper system post above with much interest and have done trials over tyhe last couple of days. I tend to use RSI as an indicator but not MACD so it was good to learn something new.

I note that you wait for a couple of days trading after the MACD signal to confirm trend, however do you use any other indicators to help discern the BUY signal?

G

jades101 - 09 Jul 2011 20:46 - 1484 of 3532

Goldfinger...

ditto the last post. Found it very interesting and I too used the RSI as an indicator.

Could you clarify one point - by "this system is for pull backs in a bullish atmosphere on the markets" do you mean you are watching for a retrace from an otherwise upward trend a stock that has begun a down trend..... hence watching for a day or so.

Thanks again for the info and other postings which I find very useful.... oldjoe included!

Kind regards...J

jades101 - 09 Jul 2011 20:47 - 1485 of 3532

.... or a stock that has begun....

goldfinger - 10 Jul 2011 13:14 - 1486 of 3532

Hi Guys on Kipper saystem 1 MACD, is the primary tool/oscilator and we are looking to take a position/trade when the signal line is below 0 and croses the other line. Sometimes the lines can recross within 24/48 hours(noice in the market) so best to wait 48 hours to make sure. The histogram will confirm.

The other oscilators Stochs and RSI are used as back up in that U want to make sure MACD is not giving a false signal. Volume as ever is important and ATR is used to gauge volatility. I dont wish to enter the market on a position when the stock is raving volatile and can get away from me in the wrong direction, it helps a safe entry coupled with a beta 1 or below.

The system results U should have around 20 to 25 per day if you check them out usualy give a very big percentage of stocks that have hit a previous high but have fallen back and a second bullish wave is just about to start usually with you able to capture about 20% to 25% upside before the former high is met again. This doesnt mean You cant ride it up to a new high, but the last high is your first target.

Beauty of the system is the discretionay element it allows you to pick from the list your areas of interest and the systems primary tool can be changed to suit different market conditions.

I think its best if I flag up the forum on twitter (u dont need a fancy phone your PC will allow sign in) where the system is dicussed in depth and used by a lot of traders.

U may have to get permission to read certain parts on the forum just ask the guy below for entry when Youve signed up and say Mick Kipper organised it or something like that, you should have no problems. Theirs a lot of help factors on the system here.

http://twittertraders.forumotion.co.uk/

and the guys link........ ask for Kyle.......http://twitter.com/#!/they_r_watching

Hope that helps. If you require anymore please let me know Kipper 2 will be released late aug/sep and is not a substitute for above but is in fact a system for market tops. happy trading

goldfinger - 10 Jul 2011 13:17 - 1487 of 3532

Note at first it can seem to take quite a bit of time checking, but after a while it becomes a doodle. Ill pu the system up in the header like I was supposed to do last week.

Fred1new - 10 Jul 2011 15:31 - 1488 of 3532

GF,

Thanks for info.

Use very similar in up-trending market.
Interested if you have stop loss settings.

Guess you are basing it on ATR.

goldfinger - 10 Jul 2011 15:54 - 1489 of 3532

Fred only trailing ones and sometimes when I go out. If Im intraday trading /scalping yes but otherwise..........

I reckon stops were made for MMs to make money and rob PIs of their money. Too often in volatile markets are price spikes taking positions out these days. The spikes are extreme and unfair.

goldfinger - 10 Jul 2011 16:09 - 1490 of 3532

I do use a money management system on every trade I make and I base it on my overal capital at any one time. I use a 2% upper limit on any trade and use a numerical stop figure for each trade based on the risk I think I am taking.

I completly detach myself from the company Im trading after my initial research, Im trading a position not a company and therefore am prepared to take fast small loses and let winners run adding aggresively along the way. I usually hold anythimg between 3 days to 3 months, usually no more. Otheres hold a lot longer, it depends on what you like.

I m not bothered about the nos of postions winning / losing its the sterling return that counts. You could say have 20 losers one week and only 4/5 winners but those winners could generate a lot more than the money Ive lost from the losers.

The Kipper one system when back tested last time was knocking on the door of 9 winners to one loser but say if I was an inexperienced trader and had taken different trades from the daily list that obviouslyy would change.

I knock out oilys, natural resources bar gold, pharma, small illiquid stocks, large SP priced stocks and anything with a beta gretear than 1. Thats my style and then Im left with a short list to sift through.

Others have difffering styles, a chap on twitter just goes for the oileys and is doing very well out of the system.

Its what suits your individual style and personality.

Hope that helps.

Fred1new - 10 Jul 2011 16:30 - 1491 of 3532

GF

Thanks.

I hold same opinion of spikes.

Whether in the ground or in the market.

Ps.

Have a pleasant evening.

jades101 - 10 Jul 2011 17:16 - 1492 of 3532

GF thanks for the additional info .... J

gracey - 10 Jul 2011 19:36 - 1493 of 3532

GF thanks for your additional comments above. Just to complete my education on this as it were, I have been through Friday's Kipper System candidates and come up with the following shortlist:

ATK beta 0.62 S/L-729p
ABF beta 0.62 S/L-1072p
CMS beta 0.49 S/L-29p
BVIC beta 0.5 S/L-378p
PAG beta 0.75 S/L-184p

If I understand it right you then watch these Mon/Tue to see confirmation of change of trend and take a long position if this confirmed. Grateful for your comments.

goldfinger - 10 Jul 2011 23:56 - 1496 of 3532

Gracey PAG no wouldnt fit the criteria for the system, MACD is above 0 line. Remember it has to be below 0. ABF simlilar......... above nil line.

My prefered choice would be ATK just the one from the full list, (note recognia sometimes gets the epics wrong).

Just to show why on the chart..........

This is the chart setting I use.........

atkins%201.JPG

And please remember just because you get a list it doesnt mean you have to trade. if the markets bad ...KEEP OUT.

goldfinger - 11 Jul 2011 00:02 - 1497 of 3532

Forgot to mention aswel their is historical resistance on the chart at 800p so youd be watching very carefully coming up to this level.

goldfinger - 11 Jul 2011 00:05 - 1498 of 3532

Leeds lad ODX looks OK from a tech point of view dont know about the fundys not my cup of tea mind as its too illiquid for my trading style. Cheers

Morning GF keen fan of your system. Cheers!

Noticed that Mitie (MTO) has appeared on the short list (literally). Watching this one to see if it stays in it's present trading range or finally breaks out on and upwards above resistance @ 240.0
Full year results due on Wednesday 13th. The only concern re - shorting is final divi payment due on 12th August as obviously dividend paying stocks sought after. For now placed a limit sell @ 229.0 spread bet, if triggered stop 242.0 target 200.0. Obviously with a spread bet don't want to be holding a short 12/8th so will be out of the trade regardless prior to that date.
