SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

Have you actually got any accurate idea of what price Sefton get for their oil explosive?

ptholden - 16 Apr 2008 23:09 - 1702 of 2350

$96.05 per bbl (roughly)
:)

relishing - 16 Apr 2008 23:23 - 1703 of 2350

No, you are quite a few $ out. Sefton are actually getting around $105/barrel at today's price. Yesterday they got $103.6/barrel to be exact.

ptholden - 16 Apr 2008 23:33 - 1704 of 2350

Well I did say roughly and that was the price on the 08/04/08. If you have an URL for a daily price I'll stick it in the header.

relishing - 16 Apr 2008 23:41 - 1705 of 2350

$98.40/bbl on 8/4.. :)

Here is the link I use: http://www.paalp.com/fw/main/Crude_Oil_Price_Bulletins-1363.html

Sefton get the Midway-Sunset 13 price + $2.25/bbl 'cos there's is 18 degrees.

capetown - 17 Apr 2008 09:24 - 1708 of 2350

aldwickk

keep saying that and the sp will keep rising.

ptholden - 17 Apr 2008 11:11 - 1709 of 2350

Perhaps you should have bought in January at 4.5p aldwickk, think you would notice that the SP has moved quite a lot!

aldwickk - 17 Apr 2008 11:55 - 1710 of 2350

I bought at 5p. What was the price of oil in January compaired to todays price ?

ptholden - 17 Apr 2008 11:56 - 1711 of 2350

Look it up

aldwickk - 17 Apr 2008 12:00 - 1712 of 2350

I see that i was right that it should be higher, it went up 0.25 after i posted.

capetown - 17 Apr 2008 12:37 - 1713 of 2350

Aldwickk, like i said,PLEASE keep posting and the SP will soar!!

explosive - 17 Apr 2008 13:03 - 1714 of 2350

Relishing, good luck with your belief this isn't a high risk company and the price of oil received by SER...

relishing - 17 Apr 2008 13:22 - 1715 of 2350

Trust me, its not a belief - the price SER get for their oil that I stated is hard fact - direct from the horses mouth. Good luck in your belief that they get some other mysterious price!

As for the risk, this share is low risk in my view because in a worst case scenario the assets could be sold off for (imo) more than the current market cap, and there is no risk of a cash call and dilutative placing here. They have a solid and rising income and relatively little debt. Completely different from your high-risk wildcat explorers. Please explain why you consider this share high risk?

relishing - 17 Apr 2008 13:38 - 1716 of 2350

By the way, keep a close eye on CNR Condor Resources. It may be about to take off.

ptholden - 17 Apr 2008 14:13 - 1717 of 2350

Quite like the look of the chart now; a nice steady uptrend since Jnauary, all of the MAs have organised themselves in the correct order, the recent rise has consolidated without too much of a fall allowing the indicators plenty of room for upside without showing signs of over-heating. Needs to get through 8p and we might see some decent progress.

capetown - 19 Apr 2008 22:00 - 1718 of 2350

607,000 trade @7.75 showed up after close ,the trade was at 1025 am,
I would not be suprised if we have news on monday, someone in the know!!!

relishing - 20 Apr 2008 13:21 - 1719 of 2350

Nice thought, but looks like a rollover done on Thursday morning. Looking at the 'largest first' trades view for the last few days:

17/04/08 10:25 7.68 607,000 O 7.5 8.0 ? 0 0 0
17/04/08 10:25 7.75 607,000 O 7.5 8.0 ? 0 0 0

2517GEORGE - 21 Apr 2008 09:27 - 1720 of 2350

Quiet here considering the rise.
