Centamin Egypt : Worth waiting for... (CEY)

pthwaite - 20 Sep 2004 10:27

CEY is a gold mining company operating in Egypt. It was ordered by the Egyptian Government to stop drilling pending a legal dispute brought against the company by a government minister.

Since then, the whole Government cabinet was replaced a few months ago and the minister now in charge of Mining is believed to be positive on Western investment in the country. CEY are pushing for this minister to allow them to continue drilling ASAP; investers are waiting....patiently.

As soon as the company gets the go-ahead to continue drilling, the share price will move north; CEY has plenty of gold in this mine and it is (apparantly) the case of "raking" it out rather than drilling for it!

Check them out...worthy of a punt.

Link copied from over the road STOCKS NEWS MIDEAST-Investment jitters prompt Egypt profit-taking

1324 GMT - Egypt's benchmark index is dragged down for a second
session by worries about the safety of investment in Egypt after
an Egyptian court ruled this week to declare London-listed
Centamin's gold mine deal invalid.

The index closes 1.3 percent lower at 5,696 points,
but still hovering in a broad range between about 5,600 and
6,000 that has held since mid-September.

"Everyone is really worried about what is happening to
investment in Egypt in general," says Ashraf Akhnoukh at CIBC
brokerage. He says many investors see the Centamin news as a
prompt to book profits.

I guess the Egyptians are starting to wake up as its treasures are looted and stolen ever since the beginning of time... like what Centamin is doing now in modern times.

Chief among the items Egypt wants back is the bust of Nefertiti, which is at Berlin's Egyptian Museum. Egypt says it was shipped out of the country in 1913 on the basis of fraudulent papers.

Egypt has also been seeking the Rosetta Stone, the slab of basalt with an inscription that was the key to deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphics. It was taken out of Egypt in 1799 during French colonial rule and is now at the British Museum in London.

A statue of Ramses in the Turin Museum in Italy was also taken.

Dendera Zodiac ceiling in the Louvre

The statue of the Hemiunu in Hildesheim, Germany. Hemiunu is helieved to be the architect of the Pyramids at Giza.

The statue of Ankh-haf at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Mask of Ka-nefer-nefer in the Saint Louis Art Museum. Ka-Nefer-Nefer was discovered in 1952 by Mohammed Zakaria Goneim in a tomb buried above the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Saqqara necropolis. Her body was not mummified and was badly decomposed, but she wore an elaborate mask that covered her head and shoulders. Her head was crowned with a glass diadem; her eyes and nipples were also covered with glass. Goneim named her Ka-Nefer-Nefer, meaning “Twice-Beautiful Ka.”

and the list goes on and on...

that was a true delphic prophecy, "soon" covering anything up to 6 months time!
anyway, for those of nimble fingers and similar, there has been a good chance to make a good turn while any bears get badly singed.

Congratulations to those who held the shares. Great to see you recovering fast.

The thread over the road is such an enlightenment (sadly) in to human nature - dozens have been slagging off and blaming everything that moves for the last couple of - now apparently most were holding all of the time! :-)

oh, in that case, why did you not define "soon" as "tomorrow" then, or wasn't your virgin in the Temple of Apollo in Delphi that forthcoming?

HARRYCAT - 01 Nov 2012 08:37 - 1775 of 2354

.

midknight - 01 Nov 2012 10:36 - 1776 of 2354

Skin, your 'images' are always apprgpriate and impressive,

impressed, though he may not admit it!
