Falklands Island Holdings. (FIH)

greekman - 03 Oct 2007 08:11

NOTE that FKL are now FIH group plc. Epic FIH.

It is now over 4 years since I started this thread.
During that period a lot has happened (an understatement if ever there as one).
Several oilies have drilled numerous wells, most with little success as yet, although Rockhopper Exploration has made significant finds.
These finds are in the process of being updated and have drawn interest from at least 5 oil production companies.
The sp of FKL in Oct 2007 was around 400p, which is almost level with todays sp.
Due to many what I consider low risk factors, the sp is well below true valuation.
In saying that I am leaving all fundamentals out of my reasoning, and looking solely at potential.
Over the last few months, I have read numerous reports regarding how the current exploration will make the Islanders rich.
Of course that wealth will be passed along to the businesses that are situated on the Falklands themselves.
With Falklands islands Holdings being 'The Business' on the islands, with fingers in many pies, they are ideally situated to cash in on all the areas mentioned.

I suggest to anyone who as not been following the Falklands Story, or are new to this thread, to peruse the latest news releases of FKL. Also those of RKH (Rockhopper) Fogl (Falklands Oil and Gas) Des (Desire Petroleum) and Bor (Borders and Southern).
I am not pushing any of these other companies, but to post all the relevant updates on this header would take the whole page.

Remember who made steady big money during the Klondike Gold Rush.
OK some miners made fortunes, but the big steady money was made by those who saw the potential in suppling the essentials, IE those that supplied the tools to do the job.
I look at FKL as a sort of hedging to the explorers themselves.
But with hedging like this, we can all win.

Fogl well spuded.

greekman - 19 Mar 2015 15:26 - 163 of 174

Why the hell have they decided to sell Fogl shares at this time, bloody ridiculous.

greekman - 02 Apr 2015 07:21 - 164 of 174

Well discovery RNS, better than expected.

Pre close statement.

Dividend suspended, and the cash put back into the company for future development.

The board states that they believe this more focused long term approach will have more appeal for existing and prospective investors and offer much greater shareholder liquidity.

Where this is a good idea or not, I am sure the sp will quickly (go down) reflecting what investors think. It's the dividend that has kept many still invested in FKL!

Will need to see more detail in the results to decide.

RNS re sale of shares.

Fogl has sold 5 million shares in Falkland Oil & Gas ("FOGL") for £1.4 million, generating a profit of £0.4 million for the Group.

With the sale of these 5 million shares, FIH has completed the realisation of its investment in Over the last 10 years since FOGL's flotation, FIH has generated over £8 million in cash proceeds and £5 million in profits from its highly successful investment in FOGL.

So with the money held back from cancelling the dividend, plus this sale of Fogl shares added to those sold previously, surely they must need the money for some big expansion plans for the oil infrastructure that will be required as exploration gains momentum, with of course all the follow on once production starts.

I still though find it strange that they have sold pre drilling results, as we know the drill success risk factor has been reduced over the last few months, so why sell now!.

Greek
It has me thinking as well. From contacts in the FI there appears to be no earth-shattering news but, as the major player in the area, they hold nearly all the cards in their hand - especially real estate-wise.

Both MoneyAm and iii are showing FKL as nil value on both my stockwatch and portfolio.

So the question is.

1 Are we at war with the Argies and share price info has been hidden.

2 Have they gone completely bust leaving all shares worthless.

3 A blip at the LSE.

Hope it's not 1 or 2.

cynic - 14 Sep 2016 17:30 - 170 of 174

here's why .....
Falkland Islands Holdings has changed its name to FIH group plc following shareholder approval at its recent annual general meeting.

greekman - 14 Sep 2016 17:49 - 171 of 174

Doh, just returned from foreign lands so completely forgot the change of name.

cynic - 14 Sep 2016 20:34 - 172 of 174

just investigated as a fave .... for sure don't and won't hold them

greekman - 23 Sep 2016 12:58 - 173 of 174

Nice rise of 7.29% today for no apparent reason.

greekman - 10 Feb 2017 07:37 - 174 of 174

With Staunton, which is an associate entity of Blackfish Capital, the largest FIH Shareholder means that PI's will have no option but to sell.

Annoyed that with things starting to move in the Falkland islands at an SP of £3 I will be about 20% down on my average price bought.

Shows how whenever a holder has around 20% of the shares, they have total command of what goes on.
