Time to Switch into ITV (ITV)

JRM - 17 Jul 2006 13:05

ITV must now be a bargain. The current team clearly are an issue but you'd think the big American companies would recognise the bargain.

The yield is also high and can be reinvested. That really does limit the down side. You can even win here if it drops further!

The boss leaves his undelings to tell the Market "ad sales are down" [News today]...but we knew that as many ITV progs are trawling the depths of rubbish.........so why is the sp going up - are they mad...
IF it reaches 88p, then I might be tempted. But not at current levels without a bid on the table and THIS I DOUBT - any bidder will want to deal with a company that's being run by "someone" ....not flapping about like a cruiser with no rudder...to attempt salvage may endanger life!

Confidant - 09 Aug 2006 16:26 - 3 of 519

Why buy ? There used to be 3 tv channels free to air, then 4, then 5 now 30 odd, including Film4 and 6 or so BBC channels - with no ads and therefore competitive advantage >>> a-la world cup coverage

Now where is the earnings potential coming from ?? Difficult to see how this company can recover with success of formats only likely to give fleeting success

The goalposts have moved, the business model is broken and I can't see a fix whoever runs it

Did u buy??????????

Who will scoop this bargain?

The first thing taken over whenever there is an uprising is the TV network and for 4 billion. A simple takeover is easier!

This is a huge British asset. If I were a rich and from the Middle East I wouldn't be able to resist this!

Mind you if I were simply rich I'd buy.

I must get a Euro Millions ticket!

I'm sure anything under 1.50 is cheap!

Any thoughts -Please be positive.

JRM - I'm not in this stock but I must say that I think if NTL do make an offer it could be at quite a premium. As mentioned on TV this morning, there are two significant assets that ITV have which any marketing guru would give their right arm for (plus other bodily parts) - Coronation Street and Emmerdale. These are UK household names and have never been succesfully used as brands by ITV, but a potential stalker may realise their worth and pay handsomely to have themin their portfolio.

I'm not coming in - money tied up elsewhere. But wish you luck.

I have Call Options on these which are ticking up nicely, but cheap below 150p, I don't think so, I would guess most shareholders are sorry for turning down 130p back along. NTL are being linked with ITV but they are strapped for cash atm, so an all paper offer looks likely, and that's not attractive. Once they name their new boss and he gets stuck in then we may see some more upward movement maybe to 120p ish. All IMO of course.

THE REAL VALUE IS IN ALL THE OLD CONTENT NEW ETC - GOOGLE ET AL WOULD PERFORM MIRACLES WITH IT

aldwickk - 10 Nov 2006 17:20 - 8 of 519

A bid from NTL will be a all share bid, because NTL have not got the cash.

JRM - 13 Nov 2006 08:54 - 9 of 519

Any fool would lend it to them for that sort of price tag!

Also BT has got 6 billion waiting! -Waiting for what you might ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember the Asda takeover!

This time watch a cable firm do all the ground work before BT sweep in!!!!!!!!!!!1

JRM - 14 Nov 2006 16:27 - 10 of 519
