Roc Oil abandons two wells in Angola; Q3 oil production up 13 pct vs Q2
AFX
(Repeating to amend inaccuracies throughout)
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Roc Oil Co Ltd said it has abandoned its second and third exploration wells onshore Angola -- Cevada-1 and Soja-1 -- after they were found to be non-commercial though both encountered hydrocarbon shows.
The Australian exploration company will still continue its drilling programme at the Trigo-1 well which is due to start drilling by end-November and at the Milho-1 well by the beginning of January.
Roc Oil said it will also start a new multi-well programme in the Beibu Gulf, offshore China, and possibly in the northern offshore Perth Basin.
Announcing its third-quarter results, the company reported flat revenues and a 13 pct surge in its oil and gas production from the preceding period.
Total working interest in oil and gas production increased to 881,209 barrels of oil equivalent, or 9,578 BOE per day, from 782,322 boe, or 8,597 boepd, in the second quarter.
Oil production rose 11 pct to a record 862,454 barrels, but revenues came in at 60.8 mln aud, compared with 60.4 mln aud in the previous quarter.
This reflected stronger US dollar oil prices, offset by an increase in underlift by 63,193 barrels to 115,959 barrels and a stronger Australian dollar, the company said in a statement.
At 8.53 am, the shares were down nearly 14 pct at 144.50 pence.
