share trader - 05 Sep 2007 02:16

Strategic Natural Resources Plc (AIM: SNR) announced that its 90% owned subsidiary Elitheni Coal has confirmed a 25 million increase tonnes to its coal resource at Indwe in South Africa.

At the time of SNRas recent AIM listing coal resources were approximately 15M tonnes of coal, by the SAMREC code, at Indwe. The latest drilling results under SAMREC rules upgrade the resource for the Phase 1 and 2 areas to approximately 40M tonnes of coal

Jeremy Metcalfe, SNR's Chief Executive, said

"This is an excellent start. An increase of approximately 25M tonnes in such a relatively short time can only be regarded as most encouraging."

Strategic Natural reports FY pretax loss 667,000 pounds
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Strategic Natural Resources Plc. (SNR) reported a pretax loss of 667,000 pounds for the year to Feb. 29, 2008, as expected, during

its investment phase.

The company had posted a pretax loss of 42,000 pounds for the period to Feb. 28, 2007.

SNR said it expects to initiate mining under its Elitheni Coal (Pty) Ltd. unit's permit in July and will supply customers in the local brick manufacturing

and domestic supply markets over the next five months.

This will be a 'significant milestone' for SNR, as it will enable it to initiate revenue generation pending permission to commence its underground mining, which is expected in November, the company said.

This will position SNR as a production company and not as one focused purely on exploration, it said.

The company also said it intends to apply for a listing on AltX, the alternative exchange of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Ltd. later this year, following grant of the mining right.

On May 19, SNR said Elitheni has been granted permission to extract the first 50,000 tonnes of coal under the terms of an open-cast mining permit. TFN.newsdesk@thomson.com kal/ajb
