Investmt Trust ? (NSI)

hangon - 21 Jan 2008 11:41

Confused Again!
Last week "New Star" fell massivly and there was some reportage in the Weekend Press about their woes - A famous Fund Manager appears to have caught a cold, etc.
Is this NSI the same investment vehicle?
1) It appears to have fallen again today abt 10% , although there is another "New Star" that has fallen further! - [NSAM] - except on fetching a Quote the greater-faller is UP 5%, so presumably the earlier fall was overdone, or a MM mistake?

I guess, I'm hoping someone can explain which is which, and which is the better prospect etc. etc.

FWIW
Reading (this investment's news), the RNS from some months ago, the NSI-list of major investments appear to be NSI-trusts - in other words "most" major investments are related-investments! Of course it would take the patience of a Saint to follow up each of those investments to understand where a profit might come from.....because by investing in their own funds.....IMHO....the only beneficiary is every fund manager who collects 5% on each investment. Presumably at some point One Fund is invested in "Bottle-topps" or some such Big Deal that will bring Retail Investors a profit.

In such scenarios I suspect "Bargepoles" - as it isn't "clerver" to invest in other Managers - what it says is "your" manager doesn't think his objectives are any better - So why not invest in the "next Fund" - that way you save 5% AND get to know the Organ-Grinder, rather than a passing-by monkey.

Someone MUST know more than this. . . . . do tell.
