Northgate (NTG)

kosyboy - 28 Jul 2009 13:38

Does anybody have any info on this company 75% fall today??

ellio - 03 Aug 2009 10:04 - 2 of 27

Hi, my brother-in-law works for this company and all I can say is that he is fairly senior but still didnt see this coming? I'll try and find out the cause but he was buying shares when they last dipped to 40p, but was a little gobsmacked when they climbed back to 180p only to fall back to 40p again and now this, am sure he didnt see this coming either. The figure he always quotes to me is that the break-up of the company is allegedly worth 250p a share, so in theory these are now mega cheap, the dividend alone was 60p as I recall and the shares where as high as 1200p 18months ago. At 12- something is going seiously wrong, all they do is hire vans, so if they can cutdown their fleet you would think they could make money!

ellio - 04 Aug 2009 12:08 - 3 of 27

If you google it, it seems to have 900m of debt and at the moment struggling to pay that debt, hence the rasing of new money at 60p, 130m and some other shares which appear to of been sanctioned at below 20p for a special investment, not sure. Either way this could collapse because business has slowed dramatically but the mountain of debt isnt going away any time soon, break-up by vultures looking to pick-up best bits may be at knock down price, at the moment its owned by the banks who are bank-rolling it, but for how long can they rob peter to pay paul, would avoid. Possible play if they get upsurge in business towards the end of the year and start clearing the debt.

Rising volume since yesterday and share price moving higher after the
placing was a succesfull one and the debt problem is being sorted

kate bates - 26 Aug 2009 10:31 - 12 of 27

wow! were'nt these over 1000p once???

chessplayer - 26 Aug 2009 18:33 - 13 of 27

And often tipped as a good buy.
What is the outlook now, especially with the debt?

mojo47 - 26 Aug 2009 19:09 - 14 of 27

Took my money and ran 21p
Didnt like the company enough to buy it all

ellio - 27 Aug 2009 14:13 - 15 of 27

Debt ridden, directors have saddled the company in the good times with so much of it, personally I think the company will be broken up. They have just installed a new ERP system, like sap(m'soft equiv), cost a fortune and doesnt work! this was a dead cat bounce, may bounce to 40p, who knows but would avoid unless you can trade in and out quick. I cant see any life in it at the moment.

Twenty - 21 Sep 2009 10:12 - 16 of 27

So, would the price go up do you think after consolidation?

ellio - 24 Sep 2009 08:49 - 17 of 27

No, seriously am keeping a close eye on them, if I here any rumours will let people know but at the moment its still a bit desperate. The recent admission that they got their debt figures wrong by 40M, hasnt helped sentiment. Not sure why they wanted to consolidate the shares anyway, what does it actually do for them? apart from a phycological element its still in the myre.

Balerboy - 11 Nov 2009 12:17 - 18 of 27

Ellio, any more thoughts on this one, seems to be rising....or is before a fall?? ie liquidated.

ellio - 11 Nov 2009 16:22 - 19 of 27

Wow, that was some rise, missed that today, wasnt looking though, had thought these were going lower and lower. All I know is that my relative was looking to sell out of these, he had bought all the way up and down and was making out he was in profit, I dont honestly know how, but anyway these are now sitting back at about 25p in real terms. Reality is this was once 1000p, so even as it is now it is mega cheap, but the debt mountain is huge, hence 25p. The bounce today in real terms again was 3p, ie 21-24. and this is how I view the price on these. So my initial reaction is I've seen it all before. All in all can I see this going to 500p ie doubling, not in the short-term!

Balerboy - 11 Nov 2009 16:44 - 20 of 27

thanks ellio will see how it looks tomorrow, may be a quick buck to be made. BB

ellio - 11 Nov 2009 17:34 - 21 of 27

This is there busy period upto Xmas, delivery vans etc, so it may be a good short-term play, in reality this has broke a short-term down trend, so it may trade to 300p, after that though? but this stock is so volatile is it really worth it for 20%, is there nothing else more interesting?
