'Polo Resources Limited (AIM and TSX: POL) is pleased to announce that it is continuing its efforts to sell its shareholding in one of its portfolio assets. Subject to receipt of any shareholder approval which may be necessary for any such sale, completion of the sale and receipt of cash proceeds of sale, the board of Polo intends to utilise part of the proceeds of sale to fund a special dividend to shareholders of 3p per share.'

Noticed that EK has bought these...a bit late I would have thought...take out the Extract deal and what have you left ?....on ex divi day this could drop by more than the dividend : perhaps as much as 4p...and who wants to be in then.....the time to buy was a few weeks ago....(not in by the way)...

Don't forget the 29% holding in GCM where the Philbara project could be given the green light in the very near future,plus the 26% stake in CDN who are currently in takeover talks.

There's still plenty of upside even after the special divi has been paid out!

But the drop could be 4p....

Dunno, sorry - but I saw Directors buying stock 150k (wow!)...and just recently sp has dropped off a cliff...very odd. anyone investing here know the background? Is it this special dividend, perhaps that Oakapples142 mentioned?

Yes hangon, POL have gone ex div (3p) so the sp has dropped to take account of that.

Thanks - I "think" I understand - If I receive well over 1k Div for taking a punt and showing an overall 25% profit then it might need further explanation !!!

Is this a good time to invest then in this company while they are at 3.50p ? or say well away any advice please?

Directors have been big buyers recently and there is a big activist investor Weiss who piled in a few weeks ago, at end of august the special dividend of 3p will hav been paid to investors, it will be interesting to see how much of the dividend is reinvested buying Polo shares, also the company announced plans for buy back, so that should support the share price from falling. This company owns a big chunck of Caledon a coal producer from Australian and 30% of GCM potentially a huge coal resourse in Bangladesh. The directors are also looking for new investments. Finally there is a big difference in NAV to share price.
For my money the share price will increase in value from here, I am long term investor.

The takeover of Caledon Res should be excepted by the end of 2010.Which should bring the price up to 7.22p which is the value from the take over.

A 25m buy went through just before the close hope they know what they are doing.
