Are you asking about Aviva shares or Aviva dividend? Your header differs from your post #1.
Last Aviva dividend was in March '10. You needed to hold shares in AV. as at midnight 23rd March to qualify for the dividend. The actual payment of the divi was on the 17th May '10 of 15p per ordinary share you held.
Assuming AV. pay an interim div, it is likely to be around the 22nd Sept '10, imo, which means you will need to hold stock at midnight 21st Sept '10 to qualify. The divi should then be paid around the third week of November '10.

I'm afraid CaptainCash doesn't seem to be too bright - he's still asking the same question in the daily thread :o)

cc, at the moment there is no confirmed next dividend amount or date, though it is likely to be mid sept if it is going to happen. You can buy & sell your shares now, but in order to get the divi you must hold some stock at the cut-off date, maybe 21st sept. Watch for news releases from AV. to get confirmation of the divi date.
Assuming you genuinely don't understand how the system works, just ask more specific questions here & somebody will assist.
