I met Martin Rosser, the CEO of mining technology company Alexander Mining recently and he gave me an interesting insight into their ammonia-based process for extracting metals like copper and cobalt from their ores.
Apparently, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, many of the ores are not overly suitable for the traditional sulphur acid-based extraction process. It looks like t has quite a lot of potential, especially as it can save money on extracting some of these metals.
