Coral Products PLC (CRU)

dreamcatcher - 13 Jan 2013 10:40

Coral Products is a specialist in the design, manufacture and supply of injection-moulded plastic products, primarily in the media sector. The Company was incorporated in the UK in 1989 and its main country of operation is the UK.

Coral initially focused on serving the VHS market and its early success led to its stock market flotation in April 1995. Coral was listed on the premium segment of the Official List until 16 August 2011. Funds raised on flotation were reinvested into the business, including investment in a CD case production facility. In 2000, Coral commenced production of DVD cases.

Recently, Coral has sought to diversify its product portfolio in response to declining demand in the media packaging sector. In 2009, a range of solutions for domestic recycled waste collection was launched in the form of kerbside recycling boxes, food waste caddies and associated accessories. In addition, a prototype for a rainwater collection product has recently been completed.

Coral also provides trade moulding services for bespoke products, enabling plastic product suppliers to sub-contract production to the company.

In August 2011, Coral conditionally acquired Interpack Limited, a reseller and distributor of a range of approximately 300 injection-moulded plastic container products, predominantly to the food manufacturing and food packaging sector. Interpack is based in Luton, Bedfordshire and the acquisition is expected to increase utilisation of Coral’s existing production capacity and broaden further the Company’s product portfolio.

Interpack was incorporated in 2003 by its current directors who identified a gap in the market for supplying smaller food processors and packagers who were unable to obtain the quality and speed of service they required from major packaging manufacturers. Interpack commenced trading in early 2004 since when it has enjoyed almost uninterrupted revenue growth.

On 6 September 2011, Coral’s shares were admitted to trading on AIM and the acquisition of Interpack became unconditional.

Update re: supply agreement with major on-line retailer

The Company announced in its half yearly report on 11 December 2013 that it had received a purchase order for tooling and sampling in anticipation of a signed ten year supply agreement ("Agreement") with a leading national on-line retailer.

The Board is pleased to announce that discussions in relation to the Agreement for supply of tote boxes for four new managed sites are at an advanced stage. The on-line retailer is a leading provider of advanced logistical solutions in the rapidly expanding on-line fulfilment sector. The Company will supply a range of totes to support the on-line retailer's growing presence as it capitalises upon its acknowledged expertise in this fast expanding area. The customer has indicated that it expects to place orders that would generate revenues to the Company of approximately £8 million in the first two years of the contract. Initial deliveries are programmed from June 2014 to be produced on Coral's recently installed 1,150 tonne production line.

The Board anticipates that the contract will be signed shortly and will issue a further notification when this is done or in the event that discussions are terminated.

Time this thread was updated, as the latest news from CRU makes the current valuation of the company look a snip at less than £9m when estimated profits for 2015/2016 should be in the region of £1.75/1.85 million, with the deal that has just be struck. This is also one of the few AIM companies that pay a dividend.DYOR.

Shares - Daniel Stewart reckons the share price will advance by 42% from 15.5p to 22p.

Any comment after "Shares" page 33 ?

dreamcatcher - 29 Apr 2016 17:18 - 13 of 19

Reads very nice. Looks like there is going to be a leap in profits. From Shares - Daniel Stewart's 30p target price implies 39.5% upside.

Clocktower - 03 May 2016 18:43 - 14 of 19

Offers a nice dividend as well, and there is huge scope that will see an increase in turnover and profits from the steps taken over the past couple of years. 40p before long imo

Clocktower - 23 Oct 2018 10:06 - 15 of 19

Still on the wrong side with this one but with todays news that looks to start to change as the corner has clearly been turned and looking like it will no only provide dividends but will see a return to growth i the sp. A long way off the 40p target but hopefully by the end of the year we may see it heading back towards 20p with luck.

Well worth reseaching if anyone fancies putting this in their pension plan imo.

2517GEORGE - 23 Oct 2018 10:21 - 16 of 19

I've held these since June 2016 and been in a loss for most of that time, today's good news is very welcome but it (sp) needs rise a fair bit more yet.

Clocktower - 23 Oct 2018 12:10 - 17 of 19

Once the market appreciates the strong turnaround, and the general market sentiment improves I think these will be one of the big winers, as i expect we will; hear of a number of larger orders once the new recycling machine is in place. I think you will see big orders coming in from Councils that want to go Green, and other large companies that want to show their eco credentials 2517George.

While I am still in the Red with this one it will not take much of an uplift to put me back in the blue. Still, you have been receiving your dividends since 2016 George, and what percentage has that shown you on your investment by way of earnings?

Strange pricing on CRU today, perhaps a delayed trade

A little clue as to Friday’s price movement perhaps! I’ve been in this company for some time and perhaps now at last it’s starting to perform.
