Nevada-focused Great Western Mining says plans for its M2-Smith copper target are proceeding well.
The company has retained Environscientists Inc, a specialist permit acquisition firm based in Reno, Nevada, which has submitted an application to the US Bureau of Land Management to extend existing drilling permits on Target M2.
The company now awaits necessary approvals.
Environscientists, under the supervision of GWM's operations team, will also manage the permitting process for Target 4.
GWM's consulting geologist, Donald Strachan, has been in the field for two weeks conducting phase 2 geologic and geochemical mapping surveys. Strachan has been retained to provide geological support and assistance, under the direction of the GWM operations team, for the duration of the Phase 2 drill programme.
The company's water haulage, and drill pad construction contractor has been in the field over the last two weeks reviewing drill pad sites. Work to prepare the drill pad sites, where GWM already has existing permits, and to repair and maintain and the access roads has begun.
Contracts have been signed with O'Keefe Drilling, a well established company operating throughout the western United States. O'Keefe has allocated a drill rig and crew to the contract, both of which are on standby awaiting GWM's instructions to deploy.
Contracts have also been signed with Bureau Veritas Inspectorate to provide assay services. Inspectorate will provide improved operational support, and their turn around time meets with GWM's timetable.
GWM chief executive David Fraser said: "The company is pleased to be working with Environscientists and O'Keefe again, following their excellent contribution to last year's successful drill programme. We are looking forward to working with Inspectorate, and anticipate a number of operational improvements with their appointment.
"Our plans are proceeding well, despite some heavy snowfall in the area over the last fortnight. I am pleased to report that, subject to permitting, the drilling programme for our M2-Smith target remains on schedule and on budget. We look forward to updating shareholders as work continues."
