Aldermore (ALD)

CC - 05 Jul 2016 12:15

I have picked some of these up this morning at 114 and 116.

The fall appears overdone to me

I think the world has lost the plot on this one.

Net asset value per share as latest interims £1.371. Making £60m every half year so adding say 12p to this every six months (using 70% of £60m to allow for corp tax etc. etc.)

Currently share price is £1.32, so trading at less than NAV per share.

Implies a complete and utter meltdown of it's loan book (and by implication the assets secured against the loans)

Comments from interims say Brexit won't have an impact and further comments in press say challenger banks my benefit from Brexit as they are currently subject to same capital requirements as large banks which is unfair as they don't have the same risk level related to complex derivatives. Carney is thought to be sympathetic to this and ready to act within next 3 months (not sure how he actually does that until we leave?)

No dividends planned until 2017 so that may result in lack of interest from funds and it's about to be relegated from FTSE250 unless the share price can reach about £1.55 by the end of the month

Really starting to move now we've had decent results from ALD,SHAW and finally OXB.

I really don't know where to close as I think the results are so good from all 3 it may potentially go straight through the downtrend line from August last year.

Thank you Skinny. I have determined that I shall wait and see what happens for a while. I'm comfortable about sitting in this trade so there's no rush for me to take a decision now.

The first line banks have moved up the last couple of days with no apparent impact on ALD or SHAW. I'm not sure if this is the tail wagging the dog or whether ALD and SHAW may start to move later

Starting to get somewhere now. I see no reason to sell

IN THE KNOW: Consensus Forecasts For Aldermore Absurdly Low

Consensus estimates for Aldermore Group are far too low, Investec said, which believes the rally in the buy-to-let lender's shares still has...

In the congestion area now on the chart. RSI overbought, possibly due a pullback.

I see no reason to do anything other than stay long

CC - 02 Mar 2017 21:55 - 9 of 14

Fantastic set of results but price struggling to move higher in any meaningful way.
I suspect share price held back by lack of dividend statement today..

I expect Investec to issue another absurdly low statement to go with the other 10. Mind you last time they moved ALD to their second banking tip with BARC first so they didn't do so well on that one.

midknight - 10 Mar 2017 12:22 - 10 of 14

March 10: Midday summary: -

Challenger bank Aldermore (ALD) declined 6.2% as major shareholder Anacap sold £113.7m worth of stock in the company at a discounted price of 220p per share.

CC - 10 Aug 2017 10:23 - 11 of 14

Comment from BSB "Aldermore reported a 32% jump in its half-year pre-tax profits to £78m as its cost to income ratio improved from 46% to 44%. Despite that, at 14.9p earnings per share came in just shy of the 15.3p forecast by some analysts, although that did mark a rise of 45% on the year-ago period. Return on equity was also higher, rising from 16% to 19%."

Hoping it will break upwards out of this sideways range on these results

CC - 13 Oct 2017 10:21 - 12 of 14

Taking off. Takeover rumours. Not sure if credible but volume suggest others believe.
260 a good price with EPS of 30-35p regardless of dividend.

VICTIM - 13 Oct 2017 12:27 - 13 of 14

RNS offer of 313p , well done CC ,

CC - 13 Oct 2017 12:55 - 14 of 14

Happy days. Still got all my holding from 115 and some more from 225 although I did sell a few in the last week.

Let's see how this progresses now. Board recommends the offer so fingers crossed for a counter-bid
