MOTION MEDIA PLC
CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT
The Board of Motion Media PLC announces that the operating result for the first
quarter of 2003 and cash resources at 30 April 2003 were in line at that stage
with the Group's plan prepared in November 2002.
The first production units of the mm745 IP browser videophone became available in
April and sales are being made to satisfy customers advance orders.
Approximately 100 units had been ordered in advance by a range of channel
partners, with further orders and partnerships anticipated once production units
are more freely available.
Adding to the key channel partnerships recently announced with companies such as
Review Video UK and FVC Middle East we are delighted to announce our partnership
with MTS Communications Inc.'s recently formed strategic business unit,
vConference & Multimedia Solutions. Manitoba Telecom Services are the primary
telecommunications provider in Manitoba, Canada with revenues in 2002 of over
$800 million Canadian with their shares listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Additionally, through our partner GESTO, Czech Telecom had added Motion Media
products to its portfolio.
The mm 745 opportunity with a small US company referred to in the Company's
Placing and Offer for Subscription Document issued in November 2002, remains
unchanged from what was reported in the Annual Report. The US company remains
keen to progress, but timing is unclear.
The Company has shipped 32 mm745s to FVC Middle East for a single order to
SCECO, the Saudi Arabian electricity utility, the first significant end user
order in that region.
The Group's key US telehealth partner has indicated that the size of the
CareStation opportunity for Motion Media is undiminished. However the
anticipated volume deployment of CareStation videophones will be slower than
expected and is not now anticipated to commence until the end of 2003, thereby
delaying planned sales from 2003 to 2004. In the meantime, progress has been
made with trials of CareStations in Europe.
The cost reduction measures implemented in 2002 and the continuing focus on cost
control and working capital management, along with the significant progress
made in developing high quality sales channels, will ensure the Company remains
well placed to exploit the growing interest in its chosen markets during 2003.

This will probably be down again as the Cisco announcement is not deals or sales. The problem MMD have is very little cash which is running out. Two direcorrs left suddenly a few weeks ago including the Finance Director. Thye sell only through resellers as they cannot afford to sell themselves. Very high risk.

MM,
Possibly, because I asked whether the MM745 could receive calls from the 3 Netowrk, and it can provided another additional piece of kit is used, which i'm sorry forgot the name of it, as I didn't think the option very viable, and think they should buiild in the capability if they can.
That would be a real boost if they could include it.

This is my first post since I have started to use MoneyAm. Previously I was with MarketEye but their back-office is in such a shambles I had to move and there are now cheaper systems around anyway. I also like MoneyAm Level 2, which I thought MarketEye was about to introduce early last year.
Anyway back to MM. I bought a large chunk of MM when they had their rights issue last December at 3.5p. I also made a lot of money out of them liquidating my position around the 1.76p level.
I think the management stinks and has done so for several years. When Graham Browne & Ian Silvester resigned they were left with just a skeleton management. Poor old Rex Thorne is no spring chicken and will find it difficult to inspire confidence in the future of the company. What I cannot get my head around yet is what role Garey De Angelis will play in the future. I would put my money on him arranging for the company to be taken over, as it cannot survive in its present form.
The announcement with Cisco will not resolve the cash burn. What the company needs to do is sell its technology to companies that will use it more actively. It is a market leader where videophones are concerned and this is where the money is to be made. But I fear it will not be with MM in its present form.
Rumours abound of further announcements shortly and my guess is that we will see the price move up to around the 8p level. I think it will be one of those shares where you buy the rumour and sell the fact.
Good luck
Sampo

jules99,
Are you joking?
Or did I misunderstand your post, a share that is now 6p, is going to 150p?
HAve you calculated the percentgage increase?
Do you know how many times that sort of percentage increase occurs on the LSE?

Are we talking about the same stock. MMD is the one whose directors left a couple of weeks ago and are running out of cash. I think the MMs are pushing up the price a bit to move the stock of a big seller. MMD issued over 100m shares last December diluting everyone's shares by 50%. I suspect there is a couple of big sellers trading on the price rises.

Anyone know why this stock all of a sudden come back to life again? It has not moved for a few days? Searched but found no news.

There is no news, just rumours. I guess that the MMs are happy to go along with it. Results late September should be pretty bad and not much cash.
