challenging market conditions to persist for the immediate
future. However, we continue to outperform the competition and
we believe that the benefits of focusing on our own XP brand
will put us in a strong position to further increase gross
margins and benefit from an upturn."

The longer picture showing how this one lost its bearings after the dot com boom.
And now the present picture showing the recovery is taking place.
Well worth getting into before the herd arrives.

Interesting news on the current and future state of play in the Electronics industry.
Electronics Shipment Surge in June
By James Haughey, Reed Business Information Economist -- Electronic News, 7/28/2003
Electronics shipments were up across the board in June. U.S. factory shipments of computers increased 4.6 percent in June from May, including peripherals and storage, while telecom equipment shipments gained 7.3 percent from the previous month.
All of the key electronic components end markets also had higher June shipments. Aerospace sales were up 10.4 percent, motor vehicles 1.9 percent, and industrial machinery 0.8 percent. Each of these industries had even larger gains in orders.
Computer orders increased 0.8 percent and are 10.5 percent above a year ago. But telecom orders fell for the third month, dropping 9.6 percent. These orders are very volatile from month to month, so even a large monthly decline is not a long-term concern. Year-to-date, telecom orders exceed shipments by about 10 percent.
Together, computer and telecom inventories held by manufacturers were unchanged in June. All other durable manufacturers reduced inventory by 0.6 percent while boosting shipments by 1.1 percent. A large fall in inventory at this stage of the business cycle typically means that sales exceeded manufacturers’ expectations and has probably already caused higher production to be scheduled.
Both computer and telecom manufacturers have lean inventories. The expected stronger sales gains in the second half of the year will require immediate production increases. On a day’s supply basis, both are back to the early 2000 level before inventory began to soar. Since last December, telecom manufacturers has raised sales 8 percent and cut inventory 12 percent.
The U.S. shipments data underestimates the strength of U.S. market demand because the U.S. trade deficit for computers has fallen 14 percent in the first half of 2003 compared to the last half of 2002. The comparable change for telecom equipment is an 18 percent decline.ENDS.
Looks like the recovery is well underway.

Shares magazine recommends XP power as a 'BUY' at 175p.
"XP performed in line with expectations, managing to continue to make a fair profit in spite of the past turmoil in it's markets. Although there are no signs of a full market return, XP is well placed with a higher proportion of its own designs now sold, on top of working with more stable sectors. The board remains committed to holding the full year 12p dividend, which looks wholly manageable, and gives it a strong yield (6.7% at 179p share price)."

Short-term trader David Schwartz has just bought shares in XP Power (XPP), a designer and manufacturer of power converters. These are devices that allow electronic equipment to operate efficiently.
XP Power shares were in the 1,600-2,000p range during the first half of 2011. But investors ran for cover after the level of new orders began to slip in mid-year. The slowdown eventually caused lower profits in the first half of 2012.
But the company’s order rate is now spiking higher. 'I expect second-half results to be much higher than last year’s figures,' he says.
Even better, XP Power is quite optimistic about its future. It recently launched 10 product lines. It brags about its strong design win record in the current year. The share of revenues derived from products manufactured internally is rising. These are more profitable than those manufactured externally. Its new factory in Vietnam has just come on stream, which will also help to increase margins.
The dividend has just increased and now approaches 5 per cent.
'I was impressed by the 8 per cent gain last Monday when first-half results were released. Recall that the FTSE 100 fell 118 points on the

Can't say the chart looks impressive DC! Declining tops on the recent downtrend in a rising market. Significant break below 950 would point to the old 800 support being retested so I am in with a small short to test this one out.
