OXFORD BIOMEDICA TO REACH NEW HIGH`S THIS WEEK...? (OXB)

MIDAS7576 - 13 Feb 2005 15:29

Very strong rumours of a further predator around. CAT,WYEYH,JOHNSON&JOHNSON,MERCK to name a few.............could be an exciting week ...!

1704 - 13 Feb 2005 17:31 - 2 of 26

Pachandl-Cheers for your summary of the IC article much appreciated.
My mood since Friday has perked up a bit especially since my beloved Reds
are still in the hunt for the Premiership Title after beating Man City today
Rooney! Rooney! Rooney!

MIDAS-I wish you could have expanded on your bullish comments. Where did
you hear the above rumours of other predators being interested in bidding
for OXB. I bought 'The Times', FT and Sunday 'Times'this weekend but saw no
articles about other predators. I wonder if there were articles in other
newspapers?

MIDAS-I hope the rumours you heard or read are correct but more details would
be appreciated.

I'm anticipating more dips in the sp between Mon-Tuesdays and then more speculators to start investing big money for the rest of the week in anticipation of the Trovax and preliminary results. Should be another exciting week.

hangon - 14 Feb 2005 10:38 - 3 of 26

I agree with what is being said, as a holder this seems to be a time when one needs to be "IN" even though the product won't reach the market for some years time....we don't know if a deal will happen before the fat lady stops singing (as it were). This being the case each and every rumour will trigger extra buying and it's probably better to have bought on a Low (ie recently wasn't spectatularly high)....rather than attempt to play the stock (ie Patience pays).
Only in the case of those sad Day Traders will it be worth watching and then it may be that rises can be caught several times, but it could be a dangerous assumption so I'm "in and holding" unless the price soars for some silly reason....but will we know for sure?

Fred1new - 14 Feb 2005 11:34 - 4 of 26

I agree with you. I think a good long term hold.

Duplicate post from charts thread for anyone interested in week-end.DYOR.
Share price fell from 45p to 25p much like VOG did! Placing completed last month as happened with VOG. Keep a watchful eye on OXB.News is expected soon and buyers returned today after retrace.Needs to hold support at 30p and breakout occurs above 32.5p. Personally expecting shorter and swifter rise back to 45p target price.Short term moves suggest 34p-36p.Plenty more news expected in 2006.Chart has resumed rising trend and high volumes by close today.

lex1000 - 09 Jan 2006 10:47 - 6 of 26

Let the trend be your friend.Up 33p-33.5p.

In relation to OXB and the TA there is another interesting fact that has not come to the surface on these threads. OXB has a market cap of 164M and the average cost for Big Pharma to get a drug into the market is $500M and rising. Added to this many big Pahrmas are being less productive with their research and have pipelines that are showing gaps in 2007 and beyond. OXB has a number of products that are entering phase 3 trials but if any of these are close to megabrand status ($1B sales per year) then this would make the current market cap of 165(of which 21% is cash) seem rediculously cheap. While there are still a lot of hurdles to cross between getting a product from Phase II trials to megabrand status I can't help feeling that the balance between risk and reward is starting to swing in OXB's favour and the market conditions are right for Big Pharmas to want to invest in other sources of R&D.

lex1000 - 09 Jan 2006 13:15 - 10 of 26

Momentum buying should take oxb much higher this week being bought on TA ma chart breakout and with placing complete likely to return to 45p/46p.

Up 6.35% 33.25p-33.75p.

Saintserf - 09 Jan 2006 16:24 - 11 of 26

I had a look at oxford biomedical today. It's got a great chart but the fundamentals seem a bit dodgy. I know this isn't too important in this type of share. (for example, the doubling in vog recently). I might be wrong but from my understanding, it's got no P.E. and it's loss making.

This is what's leaving me uneasy with it at the moment.

robstuff - 09 Jan 2006 16:57 - 12 of 26

Its a Biotech in the research and dev stage so it will be loss making, the investment potential is all in the future possibilities with profits of 100s of millions if only one of their products reaches market. One of the best Biotechs you can invest in though with enormous potential and the institutions are coming round to realising that!

lex1000 - 18 Jan 2006 20:24 - 13 of 26

Keep an eye on Oxford Biomedica-oxb. On the rise (UPS) and potential break-out back to 46p.Late ground breaking announcement late today and more news expected.Buses arriving in threes comes to mind.

Biotech chicken advance boosts Oxford Bio, Viragen

LONDON, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Shares in Britain's Oxford BioMedica Plc (OXB.L: Quote, Profile, Research) and U.S.-based Viragen Inc (VRA.A: Quote, Profile, Research) gained on Wednesday following progress in a project to produce drugs in genetically modified hens' eggs.

BioMedica said a collaboration with Viragen and the Roslin Institute had, for the first time, produced significant quantities of interferon beta-1a in the whites of eggs laid by genetically modified chickens.

Interferon beta-1a is a key component of the human immune system and the active ingredient in several multiple sclerosis drugs.

Several biotech groups are working on ways to produce various complex protein drugs in milk, eggs or farm crops, as a cheap alternative to making them from cell cultures in stainless steel vats.

BioMedica shares gained 4.7 percent to 33-1/2 pence, while Viragen jumped 31 percent to 71 cents.

Scottie, not exactly the queens english, but i suspect that qpr will be very right!
There's an enormous amount of news building up, which could come at any time.

Dept of Health Funding
SPA approval from FDA for Trovax phase111 trials
Trovax deal
Approval for Prosavin trials
Metxia results
Additional funding for Monudin
And of course the usual surprises from Retinostat and Lentivectors.
With Results and AGM etc thrown into the pot the coming months should certainly not be lacking in interest.

Another bio bull

The highly regarded Findlay Park US Smaller Companies fund has bought almost 10% of International Biotechnology Trust in anticipation of an upturn in the biotech sector.

James Findlay, who is widely regarded as one the best US smallcap pickers operating out of London, told Citywire: 'We have a feeling that the biotechnology sector after several years will start to do a bit better.' He added, 'Our weakness is that we don't know much about individual technology or biotechnology companies.'
