Has the Champagne gone flat or is this becoming a bargain ? (MJW)

hobbst - 03 May 2005 15:09

This share has always been on my wish list but has always been too expensive as Majestics impressive growth story has been reflected in its share price. However with the price drop today to circa 2.20 a massive 20% has been wiped off the value in 2005. On a forward PE of 16 and a decent dividend yield of 2.26%, is this the optimum time to add this little beauty to the portfolio ??

No shares are held at present.

Stan - 31 Aug 2005 16:01 - 2 of 22

No apparent Interest on this one but I've looked at It from time to time.

price usually rises up to and around Christmas which Is their best time of the year.

seems settled at 265p at the moment, but maybe a little early to enter

Any views anyone?

Did you buy In the end Hobbst?

hobbst - 31 Aug 2005 16:32 - 3 of 22

Stan - I was gobsmacked at the complete lack of interest in this retailer - it is way ahead of its competitors and has a huge and growing market seemingly all to itself.

I could not resist the fall in the SP so I bought on 4 May at 2.2475
Am pleased with the return so far and barring any meteors falling from outer space, I cannot see much stopping the progress of this share.

Stan - 01 Sep 2005 07:24 - 4 of 22

That looks like a very good purchase Hobbst.

The company news service from the London Stock Exchange

Not sure If thats an Increase or decrease of shares that Lloyds have dealt In, any Ideas Hobbst?

hobbst - 01 Sep 2005 12:30 - 5 of 22

There was no mention of Lloyds/Scottish Widows holding in the statutory accounts (dealings up to 1 June 2005) so this must be a new stake in Majestic.

Stan - 05 Sep 2005 16:28 - 6 of 22

It's been on the move for a few days now so good news to come I hope.

In at 2.80p.

Stan - 10 Oct 2005 11:29 - 7 of 22

Got my entry timing wrong and been on the slide ever since I bought Into these, Obviously retail Is not the best sector to be In at the moment.

Having said all that this lot are a well run outfit and the rise to their Interims (11th Nov.) seems to be under way.

hobbst - 10 Oct 2005 12:09 - 8 of 22

Stan,

It seems that Majestic got caught up with the high street gloom. Quality, IMO always prevails - I visited the store in Chelmsford at the weekend and the more affluent winos were stacking their trolleys up high. Majestic cannot totally avoid the high street blues, but its internet business already accounts for a large chunk of its sales and the last item of expenditure people seem to cut back on is booze.

Stan - 12 Oct 2005 09:36 - 9 of 22

A good Insight there Hobbst, and as you say down turn or not, booze still gets consumed.

SP. still moving In the right direction at 2.52.

Stan - 01 Nov 2005 08:24 - 10 of 22

This one's moving In the right direction. 271p.

Interim's due on Nov 11th.

hobbst - 01 Nov 2005 15:15 - 11 of 22

Solid (if unspectacular) buying over the last 2 days, up to 272.5p. Interims are now due on Monday 14 November per their RNS, so looks like the speculators are circling.

Stan - 01 Nov 2005 15:45 - 12 of 22

Thanks for the new Interim Date Hobbst, having a bit of bother accessing some of the news links lately.14th Nov.It Is then.

hobbst - 01 Nov 2005 15:57 - 13 of 22

Stan,

Share price nudging higher to 277p on a modest turnover of 27k. I wonder if the market makers are getting short of stock ??

Stan - 01 Nov 2005 16:06 - 14 of 22

Could be you never know, if they are we may well see a pull back before Interim's day I reckon.

Stan - 04 Nov 2005 15:32 - 15 of 22

Fair few small buys today on low volume.

Are they tipped In IC or SM this week H or anyone?

Stan - 07 Nov 2005 09:55 - 16 of 22

Up to 283p now but hoping for more.

hobbst - 07 Nov 2005 16:33 - 17 of 22

Stan,

You must be sniffing a profit soon !

Big trade gone thru at 16:13 - 190,000 shares @ 2.8427. Apart from this, lots of buys again, guess the punters are hoping for some good news from Majestic on the 14th. No doubt the share price will fall on good news - such is life !!

Stan - 07 Nov 2005 16:40 - 18 of 22

All good points there H....things warming up now!

hobbst - 08 Nov 2005 16:01 - 19 of 22

Some chunky trades gone thru today - volume approaching a healthy 400k. Its certainly hotting up prior to the interims..........just hoping that it is not all speculation.

Stan - 08 Nov 2005 16:56 - 20 of 22

Personally I don't care why It has gone up providing It stays up before I sell H (-:

Stan - 09 Nov 2005 11:04 - 21 of 22

Can only buy 350 online now...getting short of stock or what!
