Resolution says talks over possible sale terminated UPDATE

LONDON (AFX) - UK life insurer Resolution PLC said talks with various parties over its possible sale have been called off, and said it is now focusing on possible acquisitions and mergers.
'The particular discussions that may have led to a possible offer for the company have now been terminated. Resolution continues to assess possible business combinations which would not constitute an offer for the company,' the group said in a brief statement.
In November, Resolution announced it was in talks with unnamed parties over a range of possible deals including a sale of the business. Market speculation at the time centred on life insurers Prudential PLC, Standard Life PLC, and Friends Provident PLC.
