WPP PLC - London-based communications and advertising company - Acquires New York-based influencer marketing agency Village Marketing. WPP does not disclose the financial details of the acquisition. The agency will join the Wunderman Thompson network, a New York-based marketing agency under the WPP group.
Village Marketing was founded in 2013 and is focused on building brands in the social media world. It has lead creative campaigns for the like of Equinox, Nike and Netflix, WPP says.
Chief Executive Mark Read says: "Influencers have an increasingly important role in creating brands. Village Marketing will bring tremendous experience with some of the world's leading brands in using influencer content alongside performance marketing strategies to drive results for modern marketers."
