Brookfield says in ‘early stages’ of mulling Homeserve takeover offer

ALN

(Alliance News) - Homeserve PLC said it has not received a takeover approach from Brookfield Asset Management Inc as its shares soared on Thursday.

Shares in the FTSE 250-listed home repairs and improvements firm ended up 15% at 806.50 pence in London on Thursday.

Homeserve noted that Brookfield on Thursday said one of its private infrastructure funds is in the ‘early stages’ of considering a possible offer for Homeserve. Brookfield has until April 21 to either announce a firm offer for HomeServe or walk away.

‘There can be no certainty that any offer will be made nor as to the terms on which any such offer might be made,’ said Brookfield.

Homeserve said it has not received an approach from Brookfield and will provide an update in due course if needed.
