IN BRIEF: Blackrock Latin American NAV falls but raises dividend

Blackrock Latin American Investment Trust PLC - Latin America-focused investor - Narrows pretax loss to $27.3 million in 2021 from $45.4 million the previous year. Loss on investments also narrows, dropping to $37.0 million from $48.6 million in 2020. Net assets at December 31 fall 17% to $194.8 million from $234.2 million a year before. Per share, NAV drops 23% to 461.19 cents from 552.93 cents. Blackrock Latin American increases its dividend payout for the year by 20% to 27.56 cents from 23.06 cents. Looking forward, the company says higher commodity prices, solid earnings momentum, historically cheap currencies and equity markets - especially in Brazil, it notes - create the potential for attractive returns for the region as a whole.

Current stock price: 431.00 pence, down 2.5% in London on Friday
