Spectris buys California-based accelerometers maker for $82 million

ALN

Spectris PLC on Tuesday said it has expanded in North America with the acquisition of accelerometers maker Dytran Instruments Inc

Spectris will fork out $82 million for the California-based firm, the precision instrument supplier said.

Dytran specialises in producing instruments which measure dynamic force. Its product range includes accelerometers and innovative sensors. Its products have applications in automobile, industrial and aerospace sectors.

‘Dytran will be integrated into Hottinger Breel & Kjaer, which has a long-established brand in accelerometers and where it will benefit from leveraging HBK's global sales and service network. The acquisition strengthens HBK's piezo-electric offering, adds new Microelectromechanical systems capability and expands sales into North America,’ Spectris said.

Spectris shares were 3.0% higher at 2,928.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
