Empiric names ex-RDI CFO as chief financial & sustainability officer

ALN

Empiric Student Property PLC on Thursday named Donald Grant as its new chief financial & sustainability officer.

Empiric is a London-based owner and operator of student accommodation.

Grant will initially join the company as an executive director from September 12, and following a handover period, will replace Lynne Fennah as chief financial & sustainability officer.

Earlier this year, Fennah announced her intention to step down in May 2023. She joined the company in 2017 as CFO, later taking on the additional role of chief operating officer and additional responsibilities when Empiric was between chief executives in 2020.

Most recently, Grant was CFO at RDI REIT PLC from 2015 to 2022, when the company was delisted.

Prior to this, he was head of finance at Liberty International PLC, from 2008. Two years later, when the business was de-merged, Grant moved with Capital & Counties Properties PLC as its group financial controller.

Commenting on Grant's appointment, Chief Executive Officer Duncan Garrood said: ‘He is a strong, commercial and strategic CFO with a well-established successful track record in senior finance roles at FTSE 350 UK real estate companies, a combination that will be invaluable.’

Shares in Empiric were up 0.8% to 90.85 pence each in London on Thursday morning.
