Airea names former Al-Futtaim managing director Mederic Payne as CEO

ALN

Airea PLC on Thursday said it has appointed Mederic Payne as its new chief executive officer.

Airea is a West Yorkshire-based floor coverings manufacturer.

Most recently, Payne was managing director of Multi-Brands with Al-Futtaim Group where ‘he was key a key driver in the strategic development and transformation of the business’, Airea said. Al-Futtaim is a Dubai-based conglomerate that operates a retail business spanning the Middle East and Asia.

Payne also held senior roles with DIY retailer Kingfisher Group PLC and with Landmark Retail Group PLC.

Back in April, Airlea CEO Neil Rylance died aged 64, having led the company since 2008.

Non-Executive Chair Martin Toogood said ‘We are pleased to appoint someone with Mederic's commercial expertise as chief executive.’

Airea shares were untraded at 27.12 pence each in London on Thursday morning.
