Alien Metals says mining executive Rod McIllree starts as new chair

ALN

Alien Metals Ltd on Wednesday said Rod McIllree has now been installed as its new executive chair.

The current chair, Dan Smith, has become a non-executive director of the mineral explorer and developer. McIllree's appointment was first announced back in July.

McIllree is a mining executive, with a ‘deep understanding’ of global finance, mergers & acquisitions, project management, international logistics, and precious and base metal production, Alien Metals said.

Most recently, he was chair of fellow AIM-listed Bluejay Mining PLC.

McIllree said: ‘The near-term iron production in Western Australia is clearly the short-term focus. Finalising the last steps to production including offtake and finance will continue apace.

‘However, what is becoming clear is there is significant unrecognised upside potential in addition to the upcoming start of iron ore production,’ he added.

Shares in Alien were up 1.2% to 0.61 pence each in London on Wednesday morning. The stock is down 16% over the past 12 months.
