National Express appoints Greencore director Helen Weir as chair

ALN

National Express Group PLC on Thursday said it has appointed Greencore Group PLC non-executive director Helen Weir as chair from January 1.

From October 1, Weir will be chair designate of Birmingham-based coach operator National Express.

She will leave the board of convenience food maker Greencore on December 31, a day before her appointment at National Express. Further, clothing retailer Superdry PLC, where Weir is an independent non-executive director, noted her appointment at National Express.

Weir replaces John Armitt, who steps down after almost ten years as chair of National Express.

Meanwhile, National Express promoted James Stamp to the role of interim chief financial officer from November 1. He is currently the CFO of the firm's UK & Germany division. Already announced, current National Express CFO Chris Davies is moving to the CFO role at London-based specialised technical products and services company Diploma PLC.

National Express is in the process of searching for a permanent CFO.

National Express shares were 0.3% lower at 170.23 pence each in London on Thursday morning, while Greencore shares fell 0.9% to 84.89p.
