Babcock wins contract with UK Royal Navy to install new system

ALN

Babcock International Group PLC on Thursday said it has been awarded a contract from the UK Royal Navy to install and provide in-service support for Ardent Wolf.

Babock is a London-based aerospace and defence firm.

Ardent Wolf is the maritime Communications Electronic Support Measures, or CESM, for the UK Navy's Type 23 frigates. It replaces Hammerhead, which Babcock has supported for the past six years.

‘The contract will involve equipment installation, repair and maintenance, system and design

safety, contractor logistics support, training, and all updates. Babcocks agile solution establishes a framework that can be applied to current, and future platforms, with the aim of providing increased safety for Royal Navy crews,’ the company explained.

Babcock Chief Technology Officer Richard Drake said: ‘Ardent Wolf will significantly enhance the Royal Navy's CESM capability, and we're proud to be delivering a robust, UK-developed solution which will act as a pathfinder for future Signal Intelligence programmes.’

Babcock shares were 0.1% lower at 286.20 pence each in London on Thursday afternoon.
